A buncha goatherds kicking the rear ends of the best-equipped [yeah, right] Army/Marines in the history of the world. All I can say is "Shame is coming very soon". Shame and tears all because some of these intellectual warmongers believe in a war that can't be won. The war supporters will soon be eating crow when the USA loses the illegal war in Iraq. Defeat is coming and get ready ( War supporters) to walk the "Walk of abject shame".

You obviously don't understand much about war. This war is so very much like Vietnam. Our military could blow the whole country into oblivion. Don't knock the military. The goat herders as you call them are fierce fighters just as the Vietnamese were.They are fighting with one set of rules and our politicians are making our troops fight like it's ww2, just like they did in Vietnam. obviously you can't win this way. Shame the politicians didn't learn anything.In a way I agree with you.We are heading down a dead end street. I just wish our political leaders would wake up and stop getting our troops killed again because they think they have to run the show. I doubt that Pres. Bush got much experience during Vietnam flying a plane guarding us from Mexico(when he actually showed up when he was supposed to).

Because they aren't "rag tag goat herders". The Taliban actually has skilled fighters. Also they are on their home turf the mountains. Which is a very difficult place to hunt them down. If you are talking about Iraq there are skilled terrorists from all over the world coming there to fight the US. Urban warfare is also difficult.

you're calling them rag tag goat herders because thats what all your american propaganda is telling you. i.e. that these people are primitive, stupid peasants. believe me when i tell you that everyone in europe was wetting themselves laughing at your so called "press" when the US started on its "war on terror". Fox news, CBS etc, were constantly painting these terrorists as stone age animals when in fact they have been fighting wars for hundreds of years against overwhelming odds.these guys know how to fight against the odds and seem to be doing it quite well, despite the fact that they live in relative squallor.
By the way, I do think that Saddam, the Taliban et al. needed to be ousted but there were better ways to do it.

1. it is nearly impossible to detect IEDs when they are in dead dog carcassas and cell phones.
2. its thier land they know by heart EVERY nook and cranny there
3. In case you aren't aware we AREN'T LOSING for instance since its old new. 2 weeks ago 2-87 had a shootout with the taliban on the paki/ afghan border. how many americans dies? NONE how mamny taliban died? 15 and the Taliban retreated back into Paki. So get your facts straight.
4. They don't show you on the news the groups of ppl sheering the US on and he convoy drives on and they also dont show you the kids laughing and learnig to play soccer and actually have clean water to drink thanks to the soldiers and they also dont show you all the Iraqis and arabs in general telling on ppl and helping the us find weapon and artillery.
AND TO THINK YOU ARE A US CITIZEN WHEN WILL YOU REALIZE WHAt THEY SHOW N THE NEWS IS ONLY SHOWING ONE SIDE OF EVERYTHING I SPENT OVER 2 YEARS IN IRAQ, AFGHAN, AND MAINLY BAGHDAD AND I SEE WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON.

Insurgent forces in Iraq/Afghanistan are well trained guerilla units specifically trained too fight a large military.
If the US and ISAF forces wanted to wage a total war campaign in the middle east they would win by killing everyone but they wont due to the fact that civilian casualties would be outstandingly high.
Also, US and NATO forces don't want to conquer the middle east, they want to pacify the insurgencies. That means no nukes, no massive cavalry charges, or huge mechanized battles with thousands of soldiers. Just precise tactical strikes.
Also, look at you history. Afghanistan has never been successfully occupied by any foreign power.
