That is not entirely true, your scores tell them were you are libel to be placed. Also, every Marine is a rifleman. The Air Force is closing its enlistments and even freezing re-enlistments. The one guy who says don't fight would be the first one crying when someone blows the door off his house or sews his mouth shut! I live close to Norfolk Naval Base and I enjoy listening to the Navy wives complaining about their husbands going out on a six month to a year deployment. During WW II they went out for four years. No one shoots at them any more, they have a soft bunk and a hot meal. The Air Force is even better, I took RR at Danang, they had sidewalk, AC, pools. I think they have some nerve being mentioned in the same breaths as Army and Marines. God bless you and the Southern people.

The Army has to fill its manpower allotments for each of its many service specialties, of which there is a shortage in some critical ones. This means they don't offer the selective recruitment packages of the other services. It's still a good deal though; since whether you're a baker in a field kitchen or a communications operator, you still carry a gun and have to use it if necessary. It also means they have to fill their unit requirements where most needed at any time. Marines, regardless what a recruiter will tell you that he can promise (Recruiters are notorious at stretching a point. During Vietnam recruiters would out right lie.), are at the spearhead of fighting in Iraq. No Marine battalion will be left at home and every man will have to fight, and where the Marines put him to fight, which is why their MOS's are all for combat positions first and foremost. There's not much else the Marines do except fight; the Navy does the rest. Good luck with your service experience.

My son is a United States Marine. When he enlisted, his testing was so high he could get any job he wanted, but he wanted to do radio communications. His initial MOS was a little broader, which is done because the Marines didn't know what their exact needs would be and how many recruits they'd have to fill each job description.
After boot camp he was given an MOS that was very specific, and trained for it before shipping out.
The Marines *are* the toughest and most physically strenuous branch of the Armed Forces for good reason. Our President can send them into anywhere on a moment's notice. They are first to fight. Every Marine MUST qualify with his rifle in order to graduate boot camp, shooting 500 yards with iron sights; a greater distance than any other branch of service.
The Marines have the highest ration of enlisted men to commissioned officers. They are trained in three Core Values: Honor, Courage, and Commitment. No other branch of the US Armed Forces comes close to the Marine's standards.
An awesome book about the Marines' assault on Baghdad during the first days of the war in Iraq is "TheTable of the Presence". Unbelievable bravery and courage. Semper Fi!

i suppose what could occur is that the entire branches could come in combination and aid eachother out whilst calling eachother p*ssies and speaking sh*t to eachother when you consider that every department has it forte and all of us say we're higher than the following but if it comes right down to it all of us have eachothers backs and we could do what we must do to make it paintings. and for the ones of you who suppose that the Marines could cross in and wipe the whole lot and every person out are f*cking dull or simply dwelling an delusion when you consider that the Marines want the Navy for matters in order that proper there could positioned them at a drawback wherein because the Army is absolutely self adequate.. identification like to peer a few common Marine cross and wipe out the Rangers or SF or Delta well success with that. and all that "the Marines are the primary ones in" is complete BS appear up a few information earlier than you are saying it when you consider that it's been navy SF and Delta within the final couple conflicts first.

In the Marines, When you sign up, you don't get gauranteed an MOS. You can get gauranteed the MOS field, but that is entirely separate. For instance. You can sign up for the MOS field of Infantry, but you don't know what your official MOS will be until you get to SOI. At SOI, they will tell you whether you are a rifleman, mortarman, gunner, and so on.... You can get a gauranteed FIELD, but not specific job when you sign up to go to bootcamp.

both services do the same thing with infantry. every other mos in the army is specific when you sign up as opposed to the marines. the marines will always put you in a field not a specific mos.

umm, because the marines are much cooler. and they get put in more dangerous situations.. so it makes sense that they let you decide what you want to do while people are trying to take your head off with a sniper rifle.
marines definitely do more than the army, asfar as being in the line of combat. just makes sense.
