My brother is graduating from Basic in November. Is it customary to dress-up or go casual to an Army graduation? I just needed to know so I won't go in jeans when it is expected that you wear something dressy. Thanks

Thanks for the advice on not dressing like a **** but I already no better than that one. I won't dress like that. I have better things to do then try to get guys to drool over me. Thanks to all you soldier mothers I've seen how hard it is to be a mother of a soldier, my mom worries a lot about my brothers.

Basic training graduation is considered to be a quasi-formal event. It is held outdoors. Anything that you would think appropriate for church would be okay. Check the area weather forecast so you can prepare for any of "Mother Nature's" surprises.
When you meet your brother please tell him I said "Thank You" for his sacrifice and service.to the country, and "Thank You" to you and your family for sharing him with the country.

My daughter graduated from Basic Training in Texas last June and I am so glad I wore slacks and a nice top. Out of respect to our graduates and their officers it is nice to be presentable but not overdone. We walked around her base (which was in Texas and it was hot at the time) so I had on comfortable low shoes. Plus everyone is taking pictures. All my daughters friends and their parents and myself went out to eat afterward. Considering my daughter was in her dress blue uniform, and it is a solemn occasion, and very patriotic, I was happy with what I wore. Good luck and tell your brother thankyou for doing a good job. God Bless.

Casual is best. Some people wear jeans and others dress up. Find a happy medium

Basic is something that those soldiers will never forget. So, to them graduation is important. I don't know where it will be, but do dress for the temperature. And, dress as you would want your family to dress if you made it through Basic. Suit pants or moderate dress if you are female; dress slacks and office shirt for men.
DON'T WEAR SEXY CLOTHES. TRUST ME ON THIS!!

The dress code was rather casual when my husband graduated basic, but I dressed up anyway. It's a big accomplishment for him, respect it as such.
I always remember my mom telling me how when her brother graduated basic, her and her sister both dressed up- two of the very few who did even then-and he was so appreciative of their effort.

When my husband graduate from USMC boot, there were people there were very casual, and people that were dressed up. It doesn't really matter. Nobody is going to be focusing on the crowd, and what they are wearing. Good for your brother for joining!

something nice... something u might wear to a resturant for a nice evening out. nothing fancy, but somthing comfy. try a button up shirt and slacks.
there will be some people in jeans, underdressed, and some in fancy dresses (not like prom or anything) so,, something in the middle

Being overly dressy is not required. Something casual yet fairly nice will be just fine.

smart but casual with a pair of COMFY shoes.....if the air force is anything to go by you are on your feet ALOT lol lol..........
Plus of course a warmish jacket to wear as it is outside period
You would want something nice to be able to have lots of pictures taken right after he gets off the parade ground and you dont want something shabby against his nice new shiny uniform do you................
Have a lovely time and enjoy......he wont care what you wear so long as he knows you are there for him.
