My husband and I served 4 years, and they were the best 4 years of my life. If you would like to stand up and do something for our country, check out our website......it has a lot of information I think you might find appalling.

Yes, I would, and in fact did. Mostly, I see those who are vehemently against war in general as being a little silly and naiive, but at least their heart is in the right place. War is by definition horrible, and violent. People do and will die. But a "head in the sand" attitude that says: Not fighting equals peace. Are mistaken in the worst sense. Not fighting has caused historically led to bloodier war than being openly willing to take on any and all enemies.

I spent 20 years in the U.S. military, from the tail end of Nam through Desert Storm. I thought Nam was a mistake, but I figured better me than someones father. In Desert Storm we had a clear objective, went in, got the job done, and came home. Beyond removing Saddam from power, which we did in short order, we had, and have, no clear military objective in Iraq. I would never run, but I might, if I thought the war truly unjust, refuse to serve and oppose it through all legal avenues available to me. There was a saying back in the 60s, it has now, sadly to my thinking, become unfashionable: "My country right or wrong, if it's right to keep it right, and if it's wrong to make it right." I've lived my life by it, and it's how I raised my daughter. A daughter who is now on active duty in the Navy, carrying on a family military tradition that goes back to the Revolutionary war.

If I felt my country was really in danger, I would sign up and fight. I am 54 now and still eligible to join the Canadian army until I am 56!
There would never be wars if you had to be at least 40 to sign up!

Yes I fought for my country and would do so again in a minute if needed. You mention convictions. They aren't worth a plug nickel without people willing to defend your right to have them. In this world,we need to be willing to protect what we have even if we don't understand all the reasons. Do your part, don't wait for someone else to defend your lifestyle while you speak of convictions.

I don't even need to think about it. I'd fight to the death for my country. I'd rather go down in a blaze of glory than die like a dog at the hands of our oppressors, because without our country, there cannot be us. And no way are my buddies and I going to let any oppressors rape our female family members and loved ones.

I do not support the war in Iraq. But I am a Vietnam veteran and if my going would keep some soldier or marines little kid from growing up without their daddy, I would go in a heartbeat.

I spent 30 years in the US Marines fighting for my country, What more do you want from me? What have you done for your country? Are you hiding behind your computer? Or are you willing to fight for your country? Just asking.

Yes, if my country needed me to, I would fight. As did most of the male members of my family.
