I know they are not supposed to but just wondering-if there is a will most of the time there is a way. I would think alot of the american men wouldn't do well without their beer. Looking for answers from servicemen that have been there and know the scoop.

I did not mean to say they couldn't do their jobs -my husband is over there too. I was just asking because so much of what is told to us premob is not always the way it is. I know I wouldn't have any trouble myself going without a beer for a year (unless someone told me I couldn't have one)lol

Yes they do. They buy it from Iraqis. If they get caught buying it they get demoted rank and get an article 15 (lose rank, lose pay, extra duty, strike on your record).

My hubby just got home from Iraq, and he told me that on the 4th of July they were suppossed to have beer, but only like a two beer limit, but when it came time, they only had non-alcoholic beer there... I hate how you say " a lot of the american men wouldnt do well without their beer." It's true that a lot of them drink on a regular basis, but what makes you think they wouldn't "do well" without their beer? They enlisted because they wanted to fight. They wanted to do their job... not so they could go drink... I live on a Marine base and although I'm sure most of the guys would like to be able to drink over there... they don't really have time and besides.. trust me when I say they make up for it when they get home!

When my ship pulled into port in the ME, we were given "beer days". Each off-duty sailor was allowed 1 beer, in the little campsite off the brow... of course some had more than that, some sailors don't actually drink, and made a quick buck with their one beer...

Oooh! This is an easy one...Yes, if one knows where to go, or who to ask, a soldier can get access to alcohol. Ask a Turk, ask an Italian.
Of course, if you are a servicemember who relies on alcohol to get through your day then: A) you're an idiot B) a sad sack of ****! and C) you can get someone killed because you wanna get blasted and let loose!
Next question!

I'm sure just like a kid at camp they can find a way to get it if they want it.
