I know some of the troops are stationed in Kuwait. and included in that 140,000 number are military support personnel (truck drivers, mechanics, cooks, etc) so where are the combat troops during any given day: Some are on patrol I know. But not thousands of them, right ? And they are certainly not all walking around in the market places....Just curious as to where they are during any given day. 140,000 of them to be exact

They are doing things that are not reported. They are assisting in re-building schools, hospitals, power and water plants and other infrastructure.

In addition, if troops are working there will be additional combat troops on the ground to provide force protection. And no, not all the troops are on patrol 24 hours a day. They have to sleep, eat, have time to wind down and do maintenance on their weapons and equipment. Add as hard as it may be for some to believe, when possible some of them get to go on leave or R&R.

Well my brother is in Iraq and he is not living in Saddam's palace. He is living in a palace made out of canvas with about 30 other people.
They are spread out all over in countries that don't what other countries knowing they are aiding Americans. We are not allowed to know EXACTLY where they are because the enemy doesn't need to know this. I was in the military and I know that the numbers seem like a lot but they are not all in one spot.
I hope this helps you to understand. I hope your question is also not intended to insinuate that the U.S. does not belong over there. Unless you were in the military and were deployed you have no way of knowing the many changes that have occurred in a short period of time. And if you were in the military you would understand why the U.S. is over there.
