Just interested to know...

I know that if I was serving, and was reading some of the comments on this site - by Republicans and Democrats, you're all as bad as each other - I'd be thinking "What am I doing here, laying my life on the line for these morons?" It would really demoralise me.

Still, I'm sure that US troops are made of sterner stuff than I.

Well, if you read this, good luck and get home safely.

Yes, they have access to Y! Answers. However, most of them use their internet access to chat with family and friends or to e-mail. There are a few that get on here and answer questions. I usually look forward to those because they tend to put it to the people on here who have no idea what's going on or what it's like. For the life of me, I'll never understand why people not in the military try to answer military questions. Sure, I guess they have a right, but they have NO idea at all. Usually their answers prove this. I've said many times, the things said on here can only bring morale down. People don't seem to care.

Thanks for a good post.

Part of what military troops understand is that they are defending the Constitution--which includes a citizen's right to be ignorant, and vocal about it.

So, criticism from anti-war types, is a back-handed compliment to our troops. Our troops know, as the vocal critics might not recall, that if negative comments like we see on the media were made in a different country (too many to list), the person would be killed, jailed or silenced somehow. there would be no media venue for them to rant and criticize.

Freedom isn't free. God Bless those who not only understand it, but are willing to fight for it.

good question--it's a discussion that needs to be continuous.

Yes they have on-line access! When my best friend was over here he had a web cam and I was able to see the inside of Saddam's palace!
Our troops are a very dynamic group of guys and gals! I love every single one of them it takes guts to stand up and do whats right. And from the comments on here most people are to afraid to look some one in the eye and say anything let alone defend them self's!

GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS

The troops do have access to internet, but it's not an everyday thing. I do agree with you, that they would be shocked by some comments made on here...but they know in their hearts that what they are doing is for our protection and our freedom. God Bless every one of them.

Amen Big E - Lucky for us they see the bigger picture. Yes, they have the ability to see what is being said here. My husband and I host a couple of different websites where soldiers stationed in Iraq can have direct communication and share pictures back and forth with their families and friends. I'd share the links with you but I'd be afraid of what the trolls from here would do to desecrate them. It has been a high honor to be able to help them stay in touch with their loved ones.

Bring Back Democracy.... you are a disgrace to this country. You little insignificant B@st@rd.

You know what... I just did something I am ashamed of. I sunk to your level BBD... I will apologize for calling you a b@st@rd. I should never have done that. You are by every meaning of the word a disgrace though. A complete and utter disgrace. I don't only base my opinion of you on this thread. I have seen in several threads you have responded to that you will do anything to bring dishonor to this country.

And just in case you attempt to change your post to hide your original response so people can't see you for the type of person you are, here it is folks.... He has already changed it once to take some of the bite out of the sentence..

BringBackDemocracy said "Of course - unless they're out killing folks "

Last base I was on in Iraq had two internet 'cafes'. One run by the military was free and you could generally stay in there an hour, the other was run by local nationals and cost $4.00 per hour. Both were open 7 days a week.

Yes we can. And thank you for your concern. Politics are politics and we accept that. We just go where we're told and do what we think is right. given the situations we find ourselves in.
