Short answer is YES. There are certain meds, such as ritalin (The stimulant amphetamines), that you can't have been on for one year (12 months) prior to joining. Other medications may have the same requirement.

That's the current army policy. There are many policies, such as you can't have had Asthma since the age of 12, and limits on extreme tattoos, etc.

I'm in the reserves, and know plenty of folks I would guess have adult ADD. But, as adults, they are mature enough to compensate for, and can even capitalize on their ADD.

So, use of some medications will temporarily disqualify you, until you have been completely off them (and are otherwise healthy and still qualified). Then you will be good to go!

One caveat--be completely honest on all recruitment documents, such as when you stopped taking a med. A small, seemingly harmless "fudge" of a date could bite you later on--and be grounds for immediate dismissal. Integrity is at the base of all military service--start strong, even if it slows you down a bit at first.

Yes. (proof myself)

Be sure to be prepared for challenges though. The military is more detail oriented than you can imagine. You'll do best if you carefully consider what job you're shooting for, before you go to the meps. SEEK ADVICE FROM SOMEONE WHO'S ALREADY IN, AND KNOWS THE SYSTEM! Your recruiter is not your friend... Contact me if you wnat more help. :)
