Was race employed as a means for media ratings and to stir controversy? How much did genuinely slipshod police work contribute to the controversy and sensationalism? Explain your answer.

I recently got a ticket but i don't know what this code means. The officer said that he had been on the "HOV" for a while and that i didn't slow down when i saw him. Can someone explain to me what HOV means. I'm possitive that I was going no more than 68mph because i had just barely gotten on the freeway and i was trying to get in the carpool lane. By the way, i live in southern california. Torrance to be exact. The officer said that i was going past 75 mph. I know this is not true because the freeway was packed but the cars on my sides were passing me. I was the one being passed and I was the one who got a ticket. Is there any way i can fight this ticket. I know i was not speeding. Please help. Thanks! Also, Does anyone know how much this ticket might cost me?

I was wonderin if anyone knew the laws for knives in Baja California. I'm going down there for a camping trip and I was wondering if I would have any problems bringing a couple knives. They are more on my list of tools to bring down there, but I just want to make sure I don't go to jail or something for bringing a 5 1/2 in blade on a knife.

Im 19 male right now (20 in May).

I want to become a police officer, but I dont really know what type of education I need.

I am currently enrolled in my local community college, but I am not taking any type of classes that go with any certain program, because I have been unsure of what I have wanted to go to school in, so I basically just been taking general education classes.

I should have around 45credits at the end of this semester, and will take 7 more credits in the summer, all general education, no Majors.

I read that you need to have Military expericence, which I have none, and do not plan on attaining either,

Or will I be good with just an A.A.S in CJ, or a B.A. in CJ.

What about the police acad.?

I live in michigan, and am unsure if I can just go into the Acad. when im ready to and completed enough education, or if I need to be sponsered by an agency before I do so.

I pulled over and so did she but she stayed a good length behind me. My car was not badly damaged - just some big scratches and dings.. but I was ok. I turned around to see her out of her car and she jumped back in and sped off. I was so angry that I followed her and flashed my lights and beeped my horn to get her attention - she just sped up. I got her tag number and the police came out. They filed a report - but I am so angry. They said they were going to charge her. What will she be charged with?? Does anyone know what the penalty is? I mean my car is ok, I will fix it and I am fine, but what if I hadn't of been??? That lady would have left me!! The Nerve of some people!!

My situation is, I accidentally misjudged a yellow light and ended up in the middle of the intersection, when the light turned red, and this is one of those intersections with the red light camera's, that take a picutre of your plate, and then you get mailed a ticket.

However, I wasnt the only one, and the other person, MAY have been blocking my plate, to the camera, or may have set it off before my plate was in view.

The address on my license and registration is old, although I do have my mail forwarded with the post office. But I just dont trust the post office, to deffinitely forward it correctly, esspecially cause it's been like 5 months since the move.

So, I want to figure out how I can check to make 100% sure that I dont have an outstanding ticket.

Watch this video

Go to CNN.com and watch the video about the 13 year old boy charged with 128 felony charges. In the video the reporter says when child services visited the childs home, they discovered several issues, one of which was clothing on bare wires.

Ok, call me STUPID, but what in the world does clothing on bare wires mean? This seems like government is going even more nuts than I dreamed possible. what is your take on all this?

How hard is it? I got the study booklet that was published online on 3/16/07. Also, I went to school for 2 years and majored in Criminal Justice. If I do well on the exam, what are my odds of being called to go to the academy?
I am 23/f and I've lived in Boston for years. Thanks!

A while ago my boyfriend was arrested for an OUI, which is the same as a DUI. Anyways, the case was "continued without a finding". He has never been in trouble with the law before, not even a speeding ticket. He never does anything like this, and will clearly never again. He went to school to become a cop, and actually worked as one before as a reserve. Will he be able to get a job as an officer? or has this ruined his chances for good.

Situation, bro in law got stopped in our home town. He was very argumentative, and rude to the officier that stopped him. The situation escalated to a much higher level, when he got out of the car and agressively went towards the officier. After several mins, and back up he was hand cuffed and taken to jail. The car was searched and was found under the driver's seat. He's a twice covicted felon, agg. assault, and a sex with a minor-felony count. (more details can be said if you want to email me questions)
1st question - How long will he be in prision for the firearm charge? (It's gone to the Feds for prosecution)
2nd question - What are the chances that his felony assault on a peace officier will go along with it and how much time?
3rd question - Can and should his wife be prosecuted for supplying firearms to a known felon? She lied on the forms to acquire the guns while living with/married to the felon.

2 months ago, my former friend's dad got in an accident, in which he was no longer able to work. He was no longer to pay the bills and was 2 months behind. I was nice, so I loan my friend 4000 dollars. He promised he would have payed me once he received his income return. 1 month ago, his friend told me he had received his income return. Right after, I tried to get ahold of him, but to no avail. He never answered my calls or was never home. At that time, I had arranged to pay a deposit and first months rent of an apartment my friends and I were getting. I had 3 days left to pay, but I still couldn't get a hold of him. I found out one day that he told his friend that he was never going to pay me. This is when my 4 friends and I decided to break into his house to at least get some stuff of his. One night, we drove to his house. When we got there, we decided not to do it, so my friend just threw 2 rocks at the windows. On the way out of the neighborhood, we got stopped.

Is it illegal for someone to threaten to break into your house or apartment? I've been receiving some nuisance calls lately from an EX-friend and he has threatened to do just that. I have it saved in the voice mail messages, so I can prove it to the police if I need to. I know its illegal to break in to a place, but is it illegal just to threaten to do so in the state of Wisconsin? Thanks - Paul
