Al incoming police applicants must not have used drugs in the past two years-it seemed strange to say "two years" as opposed to "no drug use"....so do they use Hair test, blood test, or the standard uring test for incoming applicants?

I was at a bar the other night, and a guy was arrested for disorderly conduct. When he was bailed out, he came out with a gash taken out of his nose, and a huge welt on his forehead. He said that the police had washed his clothes for him because the cops said they were covered and caked with blood. Upon further investigation on my part, I spoke with the bartender of the bar at which the arrest took place in the parking lot of. There is still the blood in the parking lot from where they smashed his face against the ground. I asked the bartender, generically if there was a scuffle with the police last night, and he said “yeah, actually, some guy got the **** kicked out of him by the cops.” I’m just wondering about the legality of them washing his clothes without his consent. By the way, this is in Washington state.

To my American colleagues:
Here in Ontario Canada our traffic tickets have the officers name, defendant name, address, dl # etc., the section wording and number and at the bottom the set fine for out of court settlement.
The back of the ticket gives three options: guilty, not guilty, guilty with an explanation.

Many people in this category ask what their fines will be for a certain speeding charge.
Why don't they know this?
Isn't it indicated on the ticket?
Here in Ontario there is an out of court settlement (send in payment) for all speeding charges up to 49km/hr over the limit. Speeding above that gets a summons with a date on it to attend court (where a Justice of the peace determines monetary fine and suspension time).

Just curious, thanks in advance.

Michael Oliver, who fired 31 times, and Gescard Isnora, who fired 11 bullets, face felony manslaughter charges, according to a person close to the investigation, who spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the results were secret. Marc Cooper, who fired four shots, faces a misdemeanor endangerment charge, the person said.

Grand jurors declined to indict on the more serious counts of second-degree murder, and attempted murder, or the lesser charge of criminally negligent homicide. Two other officers involved in the shooting were not indicted.

"We are a long way from a conviction," said defense attorney Philip Karasyk, who represents Isnora.

Prosecutors have declined to discuss the grand jury's work until the findings are officially released.

The Nov. 25 shooting killed Sean Bell and severely injured two of his bachelor party guests.

Police have said the officers were involved in an undercover investigation at the nightclub when they overheard a conversation that convinced them the men were going to their car to retrieve a gun. They have said that Bell's car hit the unmarked police vehicle and that the officers believed someone in Bell's car was reaching for a gun when they opened fire. No gun was found.

The conviction was for drugs, and given that the person hase turned their life around, and feels that life experience along with training would make a knowledgable officer or detective.

the usage of drugs, knowing that this is not really doing them any good .If the police enforcement had actual movie footage that shows individuals and young students being put into body bags because of them using drugs and actual morgue footage alone with pictures of individuals being crippled and laid up in hospital beds because of drugs and alcohol, then this just might prove the point and get their attention!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just got arrested in East Moline, Illinois, for stealing my own car. Technically it belongs to my father, but I had, and always have had, his permission to drive it. There is no beef between me and him. Now they took the vehicle and charged me with a felony theft and tresspassing. I just got home from jail like ONE HOUR ago, so what's next? My dad is in full cooperation with me. And we plan to get the vehicle back asap if they will give it to me. We seem to think they wanted my cell phone because of some very sensitive information within and just "pretended" to arrest me for the theft of an imaginary vehicle. It's '96 red chevy s10 4X4. There are like forty million of them around. If I get the truck back and there is no cell phone inside it should I like REALLY start to worry then? What do I tell my lawyer (we called one at 5am and put him on retainer immediately). I am due in court to answer to fake-*** charges within 30 days. help? -john (rock island, il)
