Is it illegal for someone to threaten to break into your house or apartment? I've been receiving some nuisance calls lately from an EX-friend and he has threatened to do just that. I have it saved in the voice mail messages, so I can prove it to the police if I need to. I know its illegal to break in to a place, but is it illegal just to threaten to do so in the state of Wisconsin? Thanks - Paul

The voice mail is stored on a remote server. I don't need a tape recorder - I have at least six. No comment on the firearm... ;)

Wisconsin law is a little tricky - this person did not threaten bodily harm to me, but he DID threaten to break in... so is it still "menacing"? Thanks.

threatening someone is called menacing, and is illegal. file a police report, and look into having a restraining order placed against the offender.
