I've lived here in N.Y my whole life. 98 percent of police i've encountered have been been humongous asssholess. Do they hand out the attitude with the badge? Or do you have to be a ******** to get accepted? Is it cops in general? wtf?

I was ticketed for an excessive DUI (above .20) and I have to plead in the morning. I do NOT want a trial because the evidence would sink me. The prosecuting attorney says that he will drop it to a regular DUI if I plead guilty (5 days jail & 6 months no license), but if I ask for a withheld judgement, it will remain an excessive DUI (10 days in jail and 1 year no license). My lawyer said that the only benifit of the withheld is that I will be able to say that I wasn't convicted of the DUI. Will I have to have an SR 22 if I go for withheld? I have never been in trouble before, so I think I'll ask for the withheld judgement. I would appreciate anyone's opinions.

What the heck is wrong with our world when a convicted child molester gets less time in jail then a petty theif. A molester MIGHT get 6 months and a petty theif can get up to 5 years? then the molester is out on the street and has little involvement with their parole officer, the regisrty hardly ever knows where they are and it seems NO ONE is doing anything about this. Am I the only person disgusted by this?

I know someone that is driving without a license and owes $800 in fines, outstanding for months. How can they still be driving around without paying on their fine. They've paid nothing. How are arrangements made so they don't go to jail if they are picked up again?

Is it the California Highway Patrol or the county sheriff's department? I know that every peace officer has full authority anywhere in the state, but I want to know who has the primary responsibility for unincorporated areas. Some county sheriff's websites say that they patrol unincorporated areas, and some don't. I have also heard from some sources that the CHP has this responsibility. If the county wants the CHP to patrol their unincorporated areas, do they need a contract or does the CHP do it as a matter of state law?
Thanks in advance.

PS I need this info for a project, I'm not trying to get out of a ticket or anything.

They are still drinking and doing bad things. I wanted to become a city cop or a sheriff/ deputy ,but they advised me that I would have trouble with my families background. They want me to be a college campus cop or a park ranger or a security guard. My family does not want me to be a cop at all ,but I want to. What is your advice? Should I become a campus cop or park ranger or security guard? Or should I change my carrer choice?

Hi,

I was wondering if you could tell me whether a ban is mandantory if you are caught driving without a license in the UK. I read somewhere else that you get 3-6 Points and a fine, but no mention of a ban...can you confirm this?? the car in question is taxed, insured and MOT'D...

Thank you.

.. without causing trouble, that is.
I live in unincorporated county territory, and the county PD is about 15 miles away in the same building as the county prison (makes me a bit nervous to be in a place like that). I want to get to know the uniforms, badges, equipment, insignia, and names of the county police, so that I can develop a healthy relationship with them and so that I can be more confident about detecting imposters, but my conversations on the phone seem to indicate the preference of utilizing a PR/ombudsman cop by appointment. I'm worried that the PR cop won't give me the complete, or straight story (for the sake of the department's image), and that this disadvantage will work against my best security interests in stressful moments of action. I don't want to feel good about my police (they aren't omnipotent, omnipresent, etc.), I just want to know who they are and how to quickly verify their authenticity and know their basic, standard procedures. What should I do?

There seems to be more and more rubbish littering the countryside. We could pursue the cretins who do it with firearms and hunting dogs but, less controversially, why can't some of the thousands of people in jail, or on 'community programmes' be made to clear it up?

personally i would like to see many of our freedoms taken away as punishment. i would like to see public hang ings come back in to style. perhaps rounding up gangs and lighting them up would get a message accrost.

i look at my country and i see it desolving and becomming worse every day.

you think after 9/11 we would have learn some thing but nope we have not. you would think with all the crap in the country we would do some thing but nope we dont. perhaps one day the military will give up and take the country over because the civilans are not doing a very good job.

what do you think?
