i have an 8/16 hour course and my certificates,also a fire guard certificate but almost every where they ask for a class D and i want more info. regarding this.I haven't receive yet my liscense but i have my number provided by the liscense dept.

Got to Yahoo & do a search for security companies in FL. Ask them.

Types of Licenses

For Individuals
"D"- Security Officer
"M" or "MB"- Manager of a Security Agency

For Agencies
"B"- Security Agency
"BB"- Security Agency Branch Office
"AB"- Combined Security and Private Investigative Agency Branch Office

For Schools
"DI"- Security Officer School or Training Facility Instructor
"DS"- Security Officer School or Training Facility

Firearms
To carry a firearm in the performance of security duties, a security officer must obtain a Class "G" Statewide Firearm License. The firearm must be required by the employing agency and must be carried openly.

Proof of citizenship or legal resident alien status must be submitted by individuals applying for a Class "G" or Class "K" license.

How To Apply
Applications are available by online request or by contacting any of our regional offices.

When the application is received, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Federal Bureau of Investigation performs a criminal history record check to determine if the applicant has a criminal history which will disqualify him or her from licensure.

An applicant for a Class "D" Security Officer License must have 40 hours of training at a licensed school or training facility.

An applicant who is required to carry a firearm must also have a Class "G" Statewide Firearm License. A Class "G" Statewide Firearm License requires an additional 28 hours of range and classroom training administered by a Class "K" Firearms Instructor.

Any person applying for a license must:

Be at least 18 years of age
Be of good moral character
Have no disqualifying criminal history
Have no disqualifying history of mental illness or alcohol or controlled substance abuse
Be a citizen of the United States or a legal resident of the United States or have been granted authority to work by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services

The applicant must provide the following:

Name
Date of birth
Social security number
Place of birth
Residence addresses for the past five years
Occupations for the past five years
Statement of all criminal convictions
Statement whether he or she has been adjudicated incompetent or committed to a mental institution
Statement regarding any history of alcohol or controlled substance abuse
Two full-face color photographs
Full set of prints on the Division's fingerprint card
Personal inquiry waiver
Appropriate fees
A certificate of completion of security officer training.
