My friend, who has been known to exaggerate stories before, claims that in New York you can drive until 9 pm if you have your permit. I thought this was a little shaky so I asked my mom about it (who lived in New York longer than this chick has been living there) and she said that it's bull. So my question is, is this chick lying like I think she is?

Is this considered stealing? I really didn't think it was but then I thought what if they sell the stuff to. If they have me on camera, taking it, can I get introuble? It is probably not worth more than $5. It is only like a 2 oz bottle. I am willing to pay for it, but don't really want to call them and tell them. I would just like to forget about it.

I was wondering if any police officers could offer info in regards to this type of scenario. Driving at night in a poorly lit area on a two lane road. Come down a slight hill below the posted speed limit as there is construction being done on both side of road and out of the shadows i come upon a flat bed tow truck in road with its ramp down, old truck ramp covered in dirt down with NO illumination at all. No flares, no emergency lights, no reflection and the ramp looks much like the road. I take evasive action and swerve to the left but clip the ramp in the road and proceed to flip my vehicle onto the side. My question would be who would be at fault in this scenario. No one was cited at the scene.. My point of contention to the responding officer was that this vehicle had NO illumination at all, was not parked facing traffic and was parked in a public roadway at night with no warning system thus creating a hazard thus the driver was negligent. Any helpful opinions?? Thanks

Some people feel that sending someone to prison only puts them around hardened criminals where they learn to be really bad.

Prisons are not the best living conditions. Inmates are frequently sexually abused by other inmates.

Many inmates have mental conditions. Many inmates were sexually abused as children.

Does it make sense to spend all that money, and risk having someone escape, by giving them a life sentence? Or is it better for society to execute the inmate and spend the money that it would have taken to house & feed them, to pay for social services to prevent the development of additional criminals?

Some argue that for 1st time offenders, its better to take the money spent on putting them in prison - and instead put them to work on community projects where they can learn job skills and self-pride.

The US has the highest rate of putting its citizens in prison than any other country. Who wants to raise taxes to pay for more prisons & more guards?

I am out on bail and the trial is nearly over the verdict is to be read on feb 14th. If found guilty the Judge jas to give me a minimum of 25 years and a reccomended life without without parole due to the nature of the crime I had nothing to do with. I am desperately asking such questions as why me? what will I do? and what if I have to spend the rest of my days in prison?

i am in virginia, was involved in a car accident. I received two tickets: driving without a license, and, not paying attention to the road. Will go to court, what penalties apply in this situation?

If I had no muffler on my car, I would DEFINITELY be stopped and get a ticket.

So why don't motorcycles also get stopped and get tickets? They are LOUDER than any car could be, without a muffler.
