Cops are merely thugs in uniform and not really any better than gangs.

A total travesty. Rodney King owes his life to the LAPD. If they had not intervened then the female CHP officer that originally pulled him over would have shot him.

The fact that two other people were taken into custody, from the same car without incident or violence proves that Rodney King was the instigator of all that happened that night. The original verdict should have stood, instead the Feds threw out the concept of double jeopardy and with a rigged trial where the defendants could not show all the pertinent evidence and where there was a threat of another riot the LAPD officers were found guilty.

The videotape is ugly but wouldn't it have been uglier if Rodney King had been shot? Police work is sometimes very ugly but would everyone rather have a police force that will not confront criminals? Here in LA we had the LAPD that until the last few years would not get out of their cars or confront any criminals, they would just write reports.

Needless to say crime was out of control, and many people, mostly minorities paid for the out of control crime rate with their lives, mostly from being killed by criminals.

I wish I could see the real thing. A lot of cops think they're above the law. When they take their uniforms off their just power hungry regular people.
This isn't the first time cops do something like this. Not to long ago I saw on the news somewhere by Portland, OR these cops beat a man to death because he wasn't listening to what they were saying and it turns out he was mentally ill and that's why he wasn't paying attention to them.
Another incident this lady called the cops because her under aged son was drunk and he had a knife. He was outside when the cops got there and when he tried to run inside his house the cops shot him to death. WTF!

I don't think any of us know the full circumstance behind it and never will. If he was a law abiding citizen just out for a nice stroll through the park, I would say it's time to demonstrate, complain, yell and holler. But, from what I heard, he was far from a model citizen. We don't know what he did in his past to provoke them. I'll be the first to say cops are guilty of a lot of things and that they do not always do what they should be doing. But, we aren't in their shoes.

Shouldn't have happened ... but it is now ancient history, and there are far more egregious offenses being committed on a daily basis. We need to look at what's happening now rather than reliving the past.

I feel that it's a shame he lived.

For the length of that beat down, he should have been dead to rights. Maybe the Police need to get in better shape, or work on their technique.

Rodney King is a deadbeat. He should have been shot not beaten.

the police did what they were supposed to... except i did think they went alittle overboard with it... but he shouldnt of resisted and he shouldnt of kept trying to get up... so it was his fault.... the media will make it sound worse then it was and then it will make people say that cops are all racist and stuff like that... the media does that alot
