You may want to verify with a street cop on this just to be sure, but I think you have to file a request in a courthouse and pay a fee for it. If it's still an open, cold case, then they really don't have any suspects.

When I was still in school getting my criminal law degree in Toronto, one of my profs mentioned a case in the mid-80s where a little girl was found dead in a wooded area to have been raped. The sadistic part of this is (and you may want to stop eating), they found a stick coming out of her mouth with the other end between her legs. Sure, there are plenty of DNA in the crime scene, but if the DNA doesn't match anyone on record (even currently, and you have to remember that DNA was still very new back then) and with no witnesses to provide any suspects, the case, to my knowledge, is still unsolved unfortunately. It's sick sh'it like this that makes me depressed about the human race. The point of this story is that some rape cases are never solved. Good luck.

And to Kate, there is no such thing as a statute of limitations when it comes to criminal cases. Chicago PD recently arrested someone in Toronto for the shooting death of a police officer back in the 60s or 70s. That case is currently awaiting trial.

Go to the station where it was reported but there would be minimal chance of finding a report like that.
Also, did they take a DNA sample 18 years ago ?
18 years may be past the statute of limitations for that kind of offense unless murder was involved.

Statue of limitation would have long been over so even if they found the person nothing can be done any longer. Also most likely there was no D/A evidence even taken and if it was it would have been most likely destroyed long ago. On older cases past thier SOL normally little is keep on the files.

well.... to prove it the person would still have to have the DNA on them... thats why they say if youve ben raped to not take a shower and go to the hostpital and then they can help you so unless you still have the DNA on the person or on the sheets or on whatever then they cant prove anything
