If for instance the two thugs who murdered the London lawyer were subjected to public slow-hanging and disembowelled, in say, trafalgar square, or were blinded and crippled and then set free, would their contemporaries be deterred or would such thugs just enhance their 'street-cred'? How much does cutting off the hands of thieves in Moslem countries deter others? Can Islam teach us something here?

I'm curious, I saw an article on a blog how some teenager was speeding through a gated community and didn't pull over for the private security company. They issued him $700 in fines when he crashed his car for speeding (he was doing 65 in a 30 zone)

Is this true?

I think it was Sonny Barger of the Hells Angels who originally said this.

I was reading about probation and RCC's. There was a small article about Restorative Justice. I was wondering what everyone thought about this.

One answer to my previous question about 7 million americans in jail brought a cop out to answer who said only judges are to blame for this travesty. But I know in my town the cops harrass anyone they want, arrest anyone they want and basically are thugs with permits to carry. Cops are the ones responsible for arresting people which is the first most powerful step toward putting us in jail If they aren't responsible for all the arrests who is?

Police do determine the quality of your life. They are the minions for the judges and magistrates who see putting people in jail as $$Big Business. Judges don't care about real crime or pot dealers wouldn't do more time than perdaphiles and rapists, would they?

A friend of mine was in a fender bender and the driver who hit him begged him not to call the police, so he didn't and they exchanged information. Bad Idea, the other driver verbally gave him the insurance policy number....an expired one. Now my friend is getting the run around....He can't do much with out a plate number.

If anyone knows how I can obtain this kind of information, preferably free...PLEASE TELL!!!!!!

Like it or not they are comming. I will not carry one. If we all do the same will we force the plan to be dropped. Are there any other solutions that might prevent me from landing a fine when the time comes?

I am not the one that is having the criminal felony charges re-filed against me. I am the victim. I was not able to testify and now I am so the DA re-filed the charges we had about 30 days left to do so. Tampering/hindering a witness was preventing me from calling for help, yanked a phone out of the wall. So I am just wondering the whole process. I thought maybe the defendent just might be summoned, I feel the whole arrest should take place.
