When will people like you understand.....it isn't the knife, gun or tool.... it is the IDIOT behind the weapon.
Would you feel any better or sleep more soundly if they used TOILET SEATS????????

Cars kill more people than all of the guns and knives I own....... so lets outlaw cars. Your logic is unsound.

Proper upbringing from the start, put the adults back in charge. The biggest fear was 'I'll be round to see your parents' over the smallest misdemeanour. The problem also lies in the education system focus only on the academic subjects rather than what they can do to make them employable. All the big estates were built around industry, and you would have left school straight into work. Where is the industry now? There is no sense of consequence, so the do-gooders need to be booted out of the way, stop the mollycoddling, and excuses and start punishing. They know more about their rights than they do how to behave. The human rights system is a joke. It should also be made really difficult to have children on the benefit system. There will always be bad people. If it is a result of bad parenting, then punish the parent. If the parents are at the end of their tether, then help should be available before it gets completely out of hand.

I'd be more worried about guns being carried by children. That said I don't condone kids with knives. In Canada you can't even sell a lighter to someone under 18 or 19 depending on province so knives longer than a certain length could easily be sold only to adults. Why not?

If I understand correctly laws are a lot different in London, no one has a gun??? Most likely you can bring it through your legislature to ban the selling of knives to anyone under the age of say, 18 or 21. Usually it's implemented by the length of the blade 'cause everyone can get their hands on a steak knife, for example. Petition your government and get lots of people to back you up.

I'm going to have to go with the a statement of "Kids don't kill and hurt people with knives, knives kill and hurt people with knives." Don't try and blame an out of control kid on an inanimate object. Home is where these kids should be controlled and it can happen so the kids will not want to hurt and maim others. Remove the items such as stupid violent games and punish kids like an adult should and don't try and get down to their level to talk to them. Be the adult and act like a parent should be acting. Don't come across with the bull that "My kids are going to get better than I had" garbage. Punish kids for wrong doing. That's how they learn and that's what they want from parents. They have friends all around, you don't need to be one of them. You need to be a parent and remain there until they are grown and responsible for their actions. Their actions are a direct result of your actions in teaching them to be proper adults. Take the responsibility of what you do to them and don't try and blame it on the drugs they are on. You have the ability to stop the drug use and all the rest. Be the adult, if you are a drug user, so will they. If you close your eyes to what they are doing, shame on you.

You can't... half the knives these kids carry are just plain old kitchen knives - available in ANY KITCHEN...!!! And just as deadly as any hunting knife too.

So what are you going to do...? Stop selling kitchen knives...???

It's the society that's sick...! Which you sure ain't going to cure by tolerating the misbehaviour of teenage thugs... (like "Hugging a Hoodie"...! - EVER heard of anything so dumb...???) - OR permitting gratuitous violence and mind-numbingly brutalizing horror content on TV, Video, CD and Play-Station games...!!!

Zero tolerance - which means unfailing draconian punishment for every anti-social crime or misdemeamor, however small - is the only way to get the message across to unruly teenagers and protect our whole society at large...!!!

We've just got to STOP letting kids do whatever they damned well want - to whoever they damned-well want to - whenever they damned-well feel like...!!!

This is a problem of society, the parents and the Government. Not shop keepers. I remember when I was younger (13) buying carving knives at the school fete. Never did I think to cut someone with them.

Even if shop keepers stop selling them knives, kids will still be able to get their hands on knives when they want them anyway. There must be way to get the right education to these people and their dysfunctional families.

It's not the knives, but the culture that the youth have set for themselves. If they couldn't buy a knife, they'll take one from their houses. If they can't take one from home, they'll make a make-shift weapon.

Good parenting and proper guidance in schools go a long way.

There is a law saying you can't sell knives to minors. I don't know what else we can do other than what they are already doing which is sending in undercover kids to attempt to buy them and prosecuting the shop.

The problem needs to be dealt with closer to home. Parents should be educating their teenagers about the dangers of carrying knives and searching them and their rooms if they suspect them. it is not the police who should be doing the parent's job.
