Law Enforcement & Police - November 2006

I was under the impression that it was, but today in Kingston-Upon-Thames I saw a lady on her phone pulled over by the police while they were doing a car-tax check, and literally 30 seconds later she was on her way again.

And no, she was using a hands-free kit, she was holding the phone up to her ear.

So, can someone please explain the current situation?

Do they need some marksmanship practice or what? It is my understanding that it was very close range. Or is the 9mm caliber just too small of a bullet to do significant damage? Should the Police upgrade to .45 caliber?

No society can have order if they cannot correctly place trust in their police. Currently members of death squads join the Iraqi police force so they can move openly without question in Iraq.

How would you construct a police force in Iraq that make this difficult?

If you see no solution, would you have US forces give guns to every Iraqi household to protect themselfs before the US leaves?

If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse.

For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321.

The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine.

The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you.

This information was recently broadcasted on TV and it states that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists.

I have to send someone an anonymous letter.
In order that it is franked with a location that cannot be associated to me, I would like to put my sealed, addressed and stamped letter in an envelope and send it to someone miles away from me who can then remove the letter and post it in their own locality.

Hi there,

I recently got a NIP letter for a car i used to own, i sold the car to my Uncle a few weeks ago but didnt get round to transfering the ownership as its "family" not a stranger that bought the car.

He has now been caught speeding and I rightly received the notification. I filled the letter out with his details but misplaced it before sending it back.

I dont want to get prosecuted for something i didnt do, does anyone know who i need to contact to submit the information please? I have thought about popping into my local police station but don't know what they are going to say.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A close friend of mine was arrested recently.
He spent the night in jail. He has never had so much as a speeding ticket, much less been arrested and jailed.
He has to go to court in a week or so and is terrified that the judge is sending him back to jail. He's hinted @ suicide, rather than facing more jail time. Frightening, and it concerns me a great deal. If ANYONE has unofficial/off-the-record advice/help or experience w/ this sort of situation, PLEASE let me know! BTW, his paperwork stated the specific reasons for arrest:"violation of Pawn Brkr.s Act" and "theft, over $500" The latter, I've discovered, is a class 4 felony. Ohy Vey! So n e one familiar w/ such issues, please let me know ur thought. I and(even more so) my friend are terribly worried about his having to return to prison. Hopefully, w/ his lack of history w/ n e such issues, the judge will br lenient?

I saw a police chase once where the cop ended up ramming the suspect into an innocent guy's car. This guy's car got banged up pretty badly so I was wondering....does the city pay for the innocent guy's damages since it was the cops who actually damaged his car?

Also, if you are hit during a police chase by the suspect himself, do you have any recourse other than filing on your own insurance? (I'm assuming the douchebag running from the cops doesn't have insurance of his own).

Let's say you're on a road that has a median and you are in the left hand turn lane in the median trying to make a u-turn (it is ok to make a u-turn here). There is a car right across from you (if you were turning left they would be where you would turn into) and this car is turning right. So you are both watching the same traffic waiting for your chance to go and you are not watching each other. If you go at the same time and hit each other, whose fault is that?

A few weeks ago a man was driving at least 60 on our curvy, rural 25 mph street. He was treating our roads out here like some kind of road course...anyways, i called the county sheriff on him, and gave them his license number. they came out and patrolled the area..(can they do anything w/out seeing the act themselves?? What if multiple people complained?) anyways, i have two driveways. the bottom one has an old El Camino that i'm fixing up...and just now(it's 12:16 here) i saw him turn around in that driveway...backing out really slowly and then burning his tires for about 20 feet out of the driveway...and i'm worried that he's going to vandalize the car while i'm gone....what can i do other than tape the driveway? i really don't have a camcorder w/ more than a 6 hr tape...please help! thanks!
