Good gun control is hitting what I am looking at with weapon at the ready.
Seriously though, we have more than enough gun control as it is. I am thinking of a question earlier yesterday where someone mentioned a well regulated militia. I am not in favor of the militia being regulated by the body of people the militia is supposed to protect the republic against. Now, reality and common sense dictate that you cannot hand a weapon to a kid. But, as a boy growing up on a cattle ranch in the early 60s to a Father who was a lawman, learning the safe handling of firearms was no different than learning any other life lesson. There were ways to handle weapons safely and you never varied.
I have a CCW permit because of my childhood training which led into my military days and I will not ever allow anyone to take my weapons as they did in New Orleans. Only the law abiding people had to give up their weapons. A bad example of gun control.

Those who obey the law are being hog tied by the current and pending new legislation. The only ones who will benefit from the more gun control are the ones that the laws are meant to keep them from. Criminals don't obey the laws. I would rather be tried by 12 than to be carried by 6. I have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms. I have never had a shooting accident in my home (knock on wood). My children are well versed in gun safety and know how to handle a firearm. They are safer for it and the guns are not a mystery or something to be played with to them.

I think that Gun Control just doesn't work. If you really want to make a difference on crime involving guns (and THAT is the goal here isn't it?), make it a mandatory life sentence to use one in the commision of a crime. Mandatory gun check's are also a great Idea, but don't just deny a person who should not have applied because of a Felony Record, have them picked up and charged for attempting to buy a firearm illegally. Make it a 20 year sentence. Make private sales of firearms illegal too unless the recipient has been cleared with a background check. Private sale is a great way for criminals to obtain a firearm. I also believe that restrictions should be lifted for law abiding citizens though. Why should a law abiding citizen have to obtain a permit to buy or own a firearm on top of a criminal records check being passed? It makes no sense at all! I also believe that a law abiding citizen should be able to carry a concealed or unconcealed weapon without a permit. I think that the law abiding citizen should be able to own any and all the guns they want to. To make the lawful gun owning citizens keep paying for the criminals mistakes is just wrong wrong wrong!

Its seen the 2nd ammendment ripped to shreds, AMerica was built on the gun, gns dont kill people, pople kill people. Thomas Jefferson, author of the bill of rights said the 2nd amendment is in place so that we can protect ourselves against our governement. Since gun control has been in effect crime rates have increased not decreased. Citizens should be able to own,.purchase guns without any gvt reporting, aswhen Nazi Germany came in to being and Communism in Russia gun control was enforce so that they could control the people with tanks

I think some gun control is OK, but it is ultimately up to the owner as to whether a gun becomes dangerous to innocent people. It is our right to own a gun, and that right might one day save us from being taken over. I believe this.

If we enforce gun control, then the criminals' business just get that much better. The black market will skyrocket and only the criminals will be armed.
Personally I feel better knowing I have my gun. But, then again, I have learned how to use it, and have taught my kids to use and respect it as well. It is never just laying around either.
I think the emphasis should be on pushing gun safety and responsible ownership more to people that want to buy them.

Gun control is not a common sense issue, it is a feel good measure. The only people who are going to obey the law are those who are law abiding. The ones that are targeted, the criminals, can care less about laws. Gun laws are useless and ineffective against the real culprits, the criminals.

The right to bear arms was a notion instated in earlier times...when there was only a small military to defend the United States against the British.
What is the need, today, for personal ownership firearms in the United States? If you say it is to defend yourself...then why do you support the notion of a law enforcement society? If you are paying police to defend you, why do you need a gun?
For those of you who say that "Guns don't kill people...people kill people" - look to the gun-related death statistics of countries without the right to own guns versus the United States. You will see that - clearly - countries that do not allow guns have FAR FEWER gun related deaths.
What kind of a world do you want to live in?
