i know it is a game but while i was watching this cop thing on tv this man got done for grand theft auto and i was just wondering what it is.

Grand theft is a theft of anything valued over $1000. The charge for stealing a car is Grand Theft Auto. Just a category for the charge.

Grand theft means a felony exceeding $500.00. That number may have dropped to $300.00 recently but when you put that equation into an auto (the price of it) that's Grand Theft Auto

Grand theft auto = Auto means vehicle. Theft means it was stolen. Grand means the value of the vehicle was over a certain amount, depending on where you are.

IT SIMPLY MEANS THEFT OF A VEHICLE NO MONEY AMOUNT INVOLVED. ANY CAR THAT IS STOLEN IS CONSIDERED GRAND THEFT AUTO DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE FROM. SOME STATE JUST CALL IT AUTO THEFT.

It's grand theft of an automobile. Grand theft as opposed to petty theft. I guess there could be grand theft airplane or grand theft jewelry.

In law there are two types of theft: "Petty" and "Grand."

when u steal anything over 3000.00 that's gran theft, auto is the car. so that is what u would get charged with if u steal a car.
