I'm interviewing for a contractor-related job which will be working on a navy base. I was told the job required a security clearance. 12 years ago when I was briefly in the navy I had a "less than honorable" discharge (tested positive on drug test - only time in my life before or since I ever tried anything). Question is - what kind of security clearance are they looking for with civilian workers do you think? I have no criminal record and have been quite the upstanding citizen since then. Being so long ago and me not being in the military now, would they absolutely demand nothing less than an honorable discharge or "don't bother applying - ever"? Or what if the event was, say, 60 years ago? Is it that no amount of time passed under the bridge will erase this discharge and allow you to get a civilian job on their base, or would they only deny a "dishonorable" or "misconduct" discharge status? Please only knowledgeable answers, not just speculation.

I dont understand this at all. I recently turned 18, and I can legally drink alcohol in EVERY country in the world except the united states. I am a european immigrant, and in europe you can drink at 16 in some countries. Dont people here understand that the more you prohibit something, the more people will abuse it? Why do you think that when the drinking age is lower, less people drink(proven)?? You can do everything at 18, except drink? Someone please explain this to me I am very confused.

Joe Vento, the owner of Geno's Steaks, defended his policy before the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, which filed the discrimination complaint.

"This country is a melting pot, but what makes it work is the English language," Vento told the commission. "I'm not stupid. I would never put a sign out to hurt my business."

Vento posted two small signs in October 2005 at his shop in a diverse South Philadelphia neighborhood, telling customers, "This is AMERICA: WHEN ORDERING PLEASE 'SPEAK ENGLISH.'"

Little backstory, me and my siblings dont have the same mom so I dont talk to them much, and I dont talk to their side of the family AT ALL.

Also the will was unsigned, and the estate is "unsupervised"....im not sure if thats bad or not aswell.

Ok, well my father passed away march of 2006, while he was in the hospital on his death bed, a lawyer came and i had to sign a paper to make my aunt executor i believe....i was not in a mindstate to think anyone would be screwing me over so i signed.

My father left a buisness, which was sold for 133,000 last summer , and he also left houses which arent sold yet. they were appraised though.

well it will be 2 years in march and i still havent recieved my full share.

In may of 2007 my aunt had me and my 2 siblings go to her house and she gave us each 7,000 dollars of the money...she said she couldnt give it all yet because she has to wait and see if anyone comes forward that my dad owes. she said in a few months if they dont come forward in 60 days she would distribute the rest and put me and my siblings in charge of selling the houses on our own.

Well I wait and wait and still nothing, its been 6 months since that happened and everytime i talk to my brother he tells me the moneys coming and were waiting to go into probate, that my aunt is just busy and shes taking longer than she should because she works for the mayor and is always busy. And that were waiting to get a court date?

He seems sincere and in need of money as much as I am and seems like hes being serious about it but I dont trust him or anyone on that side of the family, so im kinda scared I may be getting screwed and I dont know what to do.

Just recently he called to tell me that he asked our aunt to give us a little more cash, well supposedly im supposed to be recieveing a 500 dollar check soon...and in the mail tommorow im supposed to recieve an inventory list of the estate.

I have a question though.....How can she distribute money little by little but has to wait for probate to give it all out?

Are they messing with me?

Also ive tried to contact he lawyer that handles the estate a few months back and he told me not to call him, but to call my aunt and talk to her because he costs 100 dollars an hour and that these things take time.....even though my dads estate money is paying for him, im not allowed to talk to him? I dont get it.

Please give me your opinion on the situation. and any ideas of what I should do?

Thank you alot

About a year ago I did not get along with my boyfriend very well so we broke up and I signed a room mate release form with my signature, his signature, and the complex's manager signature on it. After we broke up, he got evicted like 4 months later. Now I get a collection notice in the mail saying that I owe them money for the eviction too! I call the complex and they say that the form we signed together did not mean anything, regardless to the fact that I no longer lived there when my ex-roomate! Does that make sense to anybody??? I thought a contract was a contract?

just a simple yes/no answer please. im doing a survey for my AP statistics class and need to create a voluntary response bias. the question is: Do you think we should further restrict the 2nd Amendment (right to bear arms)?

along with your answer please state if you ever shot any type of gun or if anyone in your family owns a gun (just to see if there is a bias).

thanks so much

I would like to make a will leaving my house to one child, but requiring the other child to get a portion of what the house is worth. I'm doing this because I know one child wants the house (they grew up in) and the other child would just rather have money. I dont have much money to give so is it possible to put in my will that the child who receives the house must have a fair market appraisal done on the house and give the other child 25% of whatever the appraisal value is; to be paid out over a period of a year? If so how do I do this so that it is legal and legit and not open to discrepancy or dispute amongst the children?

Can a backround investigator call your high school and ask if you were suspended and why ? I know they can get your transcripts but was not sure if personal records were available to them. Are disciplinary actions (such as suspension) private?

It's my understanding the personal files are kept with a counseler and it's up to them to decide whom the info is given out to.

I misread the ? about being suspended and said no. It had stated have you ever been suspended from any school, college or university. I thought it was just asking about college and said NO.

Should I wright a letter or call them to correct the mistake? It's for police/fire.

My sister got arrested last night.. which was legit and when they took her to jail, they made her strip naked and shower while guard watches her. Did she have to strip completely naked or is there any clause where you can ask that a female guard keep watch instead of a male or is there nothing that could have been done? She's really upset.

Here goes my story...

I saw an adv for a game on craigslist and decided to buy it. The order went through fine. Since the phone was priced ridiculously low, i decided to buy 30+ units. I sent the seller about $2500 and sure enough, he send me the games.

Then he sends me an email saying that he has about 100 units left and we decided on a price of $7500. When the package was dropped off, he send a bunch of old books. When I contacted him, he said it was a mistake and was supposed to ship the games. Meanwhile, he cashed the $7500 cashiers check.

Now, for the past two weeks, he's been playing around, cooking up stories... He seems to be afraid when I said I will prosecute him criminally....

Do I have any recourse? Where can I file a complaint? Thanks for any help!

I have 4 children, 9,7,4,and 2.
My two little ones were very ill today, and so i wasn't able to take my eldest 2, both to and from school.
I had no one else to do it either,(husband leaves for work in another city at 7 in the morning!) we have only recently moved to this area, away from family and friends.
So the headteacher rings me up and tells me that it is illegal to NOT send the children into school, i should either get a taxi, or ask my husband to rearrange his job schedual!
I was so outraged at the schools lack of understanding!
And also so shocked that i was doing something illegal!
Is this nasty headteacher correct?????

I kill my wife and go to jail for man slaughter. I get out 12 years later and I find out she's still alive (changed her identity). The whole time she was leeching out of my rich mother dying mother, and poisoned out 3 children for the insurance money. Knowing all of this, I still have no proof against her and this leads me to shoot her dead at her job in front of everyone. The police ID her as my wife that I supposedly killed. Can I be charged with murder?
