Im 16 and she is 14 turning 15 in april, and today my counselor approached me and said that the age of consent law forbids me from dating someone who isnt 16 also. I looked at the michigan age of consent laws and all i see it forbidding me from is having sex. Which we arent looking to do but my question is is it legal for us to just date as long as nothing sexual happens?

My stolen car was recovered two weeks after. The police found it one week ago, had it towed, impounded, after one week past they called me. Charges include towing a 1 week of impound charges. They called 4:45 Pm Friday I have 15 minutes to fill out some forms and go to the lot to pickup my car. If I don't make it I will be charged 2 more days of impound, closed on weekends. I'm thinking they make most of their calls between 4:30 and 5:00 to get more charges. Also they could have caught the thief if they investigated. The thief left a empty fast food bag in the car with an exact time/dated receipt, the drive up window there takes a picture of every customer via security camera. They refused to investigate.

I'm watching the movie Day Zero right now about the lives of 3 guys that got drafted. Three ordinary guys that opened the mailbox read the letter and found out they were to report in 30 days to the US Military and leave there careers, lives, routines, friends, love ones and pets behind.

I really dont know how I would react, I mean, defend my country? Am I really doing that by leaving my home to go kill another man in his?

What would you do if you got the notice? In those 30 days? Would you run?

Wives, girlfriends, sisters? What would you do?

I am having an internal conflict about Guantanamo Bay. One side of me (the liberal side) thinks that it is horrible that all of these innocent people with no information are being tortured and detained for years. Their lives will never be the same and they have lost years of their lives. The other side of me (conservative) thinks that Guantanamo Bay is ok. The information we get from some of these people have enabled the government to stop terrorist attacks that would have killed thousands of innocent people. The way I look at it is, which is better- wasting 3 years of many innocent people's lives with horrible wretched torture, or losing thousands of lives because of a terrorist attack because Guantanamo Bay was closed and leads and tips were lost because torture is no longer allowed. Is my logic flawed?

I got a letter from a collections agency telling me if I dont respond in 10 days they will contact a local law firm and file civil judgement against me. My question is..Is this a scare tactic? Will they actually go through with and should I contact them? This was in regards to a loan I had taken out back in '03 to help a family member who did not pay me back so naturally I'm getting screwed. Also at the time I wasnt married and livng in NY but now am married and reside in NE, can they go after my husband's money since I'm currently unemployed? What should I do?

I approached a police station to get an FIR registered. They merely gave me a copy of my application with stamp, date and the daily diary entry number. Now a few months have passed and they are dithering in the name of inquiry. Neither are they giving me any written investigation report. The other party have given them some explanation in writing. Can I ask them for a copy of that explanation through filing an RTI application.
Morever can I ask the police station for a written explanation of the investigation they supposedly conducted as a matter of right?
What is the procedure for getting a court order to get the FIR registered? Can I demand anonymity? although it involves me, the case is such that i don't want to get into the open picture. Does the procedure involve giving things like thumb impression and affidavit etc.? How does the cort view such cases? Do I have a fair chance of getting an order? Please help me.

I hired a lawn service company to mow my lawns, pick the weeds, etc. They came twice and on 1 visit, they cracked my window. I paid them for the first service, however I don't think I should have to pay them for the time they came and cracked my window. What does everyone think? Should I pay them? I don't plan on holding them liable for the cracked window.

A friend of mine, a middle-aged gentleman here in San Diego, California, received around $200,000 of medical treatment a couple years ago under the state's Medi-Cal program for the indigent (though educated and professional, he had fallen on hard times under the crisis of capitalism) and middle-aged.
His daughter, in her mid-twenties, living in a major European country (her mother's birthplace), recently married a wealthy businessman there.
She and he have offered her father (the gentleman described above) a large gift of money (over a quarter-million dollars, enough to more-than-equal the money the state spent on his medical care).
Question: If he accepts it and puts it into his currently empty California bank account, is the state gov't. likely to sieze it to cover his medical expenses?
If so, he will NOT accept the money (not wanting to keep so much money in a shoebox under his bed). Or, is he worrying for nothing, and should go ahead and except the money gift?

I've heard that you can face criminal charges if the cops prevent you. What exactly can the court system do to you if this is the case? If it is illegal, i think it's complete bull.

It is estimated that some 70% of 999 calls do not require the urgent attention of the emergency services. To reduce this number, if the call can be traced to the individual, should they be prosecuted?

Cambridgeshire police have released five recordings of "non-emergency" 999 calls on their website, such as one caller who asked for the date, and another who "COULDN'T FIND HOMEBASE AND WAS VERY DISTRESSED".

A contractor who helped discover bundles of Depression-era U.S. currency totaling $182,000 hidden behind bathroom walls said the homeowner should turn the money over to him or at least share it. Kitts asserts he found lost money, and court rulings in Ohio establish that a "finders keepers" law applies if there's no reason to believe any owner will reappear to claim it.

Do you think she should share the money if so why if no why?
