i currently got a new job as a server at a fancy restaraunt that does banquets and all sorts of parties. we get a certain percent of the service charge on the bill at the end of the party as our tip. i did a party of fifty people and me and the other girl each got an 80.00 tip. the next night i did a party of 200 people and i did not get anything yet. the employer said we dont get paid until the party pays and they have 30 days to pay their bill. is this legal? i am getting paid only 2.63 an hour and went home empty handed after doing a huge party . are they allowed to hold my pay or what?

Why is it that if I speak out about illegal immigration I am immediatly branded as a racist? Does no one acknowledge that crossing someone else's country's border without authorization is illegal? And please don't even try to call me a racist, my wife is from across the southern border and she came in legally. She even took the oath of allegiance and it caused me a missed heartbeat when she did it. But then I still get goosebumps when I hear the national anthem or 'To The Colors'. Golly fifty percent of my own family came through Ellis Island with no hope of any sort of...welfare(?)...Am I really zenophobic?

Would I be infringing on conflict of interest if I took on one job privately if they were turned down by my employer?
One of my clients is an 11 year old boy with disabilities that lives with his parents, and I as well as other assistants go out to the home for help. The parents have to go to another state for 5 days to handle some things with family there. They asked my employer if they could provide a HCA to come out while he is home from school. They denied the request, even though the family said they would have no problem paying the amount due that their regular form of payment does not cover. My employer said that the HCAs dont work 3rd shift, or pass meds and they wouldn't allow it. The family asked me if I would be willing to do it anyway and I would get paid cash ($800 plus gas money, food money). I am more than qualified for the specified job becuase at my other job I am state certified to pass meds, g-tubes etc. Since they were denied help is that conflict of interest??

A police stopped me today. Routinely, he took my license and registration. He told me the reason he stopped me was because one of my break lights was out then returned to his car to run my license (I guess). After a min or so, he returned to the car and asked me if I smoked weed or if I use narcotics. I said no, he said "are you sure", I said "I'm sure". He asked me again and again I said I do not use weed. Then he said "I'm asking you that for a reason... When I walked up to you car, I smelled weed...do you have a problem with me searching your car"? I told him I didn't have a problem with that and again he asked me if I was sure that neither I nor anyone else had smoked in my car. He searched my car, then said... the fine for a break light out is $70...I'm gonna cut you a break. You can go". There is no way he smelled weed!!! Do police make up stories like this??? If so, why. I'm really upset about this. Thanks.

I know this:

It's when the courts strike a deal with someone to give testimony, or else suffer a bigger sentence. Part of this is that the court won't have to go through a trial.

But isn't the court going through a trial during the plea bargaining process?

Hi. Hopefully someone can help me because I am in a bad situation. I consolidated my loans and missed one of my Perkins loans and it fell delinquent and was moved to a collection agency. The collection agency could not reach me and it fell in the hands of a law office. But the law office did not pursue litigation instead coerced me into a ridiculous payment plan that I cannot afford. According to the higher education act I have the legal right to bring this out of default does anyone know how?

I have two sons in public school in WA state. I was served papers for truancy for both. After paying an attorney a great deal of money and proving that the school was at fault through my phone records both petions were dismissed. I was not even given an "We are Sorry". These people are smug and think they can bully anyone into accepting their word as law. Can I sue for my 7 days of missed work and the legal fees?

THE QUESTION IS ORGINALLY ASKED WAS:

Car number 1 parks on a local street, aginst the curb. Car number 2 parks in front car number 1 aginst the curb. Car number 2 hits car number 1.

As it turns out, car number 1 was illegally parked 3 feet away from the curb. Although, car 2 was in fact the car who caused the crash while having full awarness of where car 1 was.

Which car deserves the punishment?

everyone agreed that it was car 2's fault
NOW, MY QUESTION IS:

Car 1 got a violation in the accident report. Will insurance severly penalize Car 1 for illegal parking, or will they still recognize that Car 2 was the car who overall caused the problem by crashing.

A prison is no place for a child no matter what crime they've committed. In America some states not only put children/teenagers in prison but they use the death punishment on them as well. I think that is crazy. Yes these minors have done horrendous crimes but do not put them in an environment where they will be raped, and victimized. We need to put these children in specialized penitentiaries for minors who have committed heinous crimes. We (taxpayers) spend on average $25,000 a year to maintain a minimum security prisoner, if we put these children in an environment that will require them to steal, murder, prostitute themselves, or simply victimize others we only lengthen that 10 year conviction to a 25 year one bringing more money out of our pockets. So even if you didn't care about minors rights, you can at least think about where your money is going, and how effective its use has been. So from an ethical point of view what would make a jury send a teenager to an environment like that? Do you agree or disagree with the juries decision? Is it right to do this to these children/teenagers?

I was hurt at work on 11/21 and went to their Dr, I was told to go back to the Dr on 11/26 for reevaluation . When I went back, another Dr told me I needed to get an MRI and see an ortho surgeon for my knee. I was on percocets for pain and told her I didn't feel comfortable working on the pain medicine, or not taking it and being in extreme pain. She told me I would have until 12/3 off to get the appointments done. I am still off work because I just had my MRI yesterday and see the ortho surgeon on 12/6. My work called me and said the paperwork they were given from the Dr said I should have been back to work on 11/27, the day after the reevaluation apt. I was upset and told them I would go see my own Dr to get a note for being out. I live in MI and am wondering what I should do. I have contacted lawyers. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!
