I have two sons in public school in WA state. I was served papers for truancy for both. After paying an attorney a great deal of money and proving that the school was at fault through my phone records both petions were dismissed. I was not even given an "We are Sorry". These people are smug and think they can bully anyone into accepting their word as law. Can I sue for my 7 days of missed work and the legal fees?

~Let me think about this. You had a lawyer. Clearly a good one. He took on the system and won, after all. Now, you don't want his advice, you want mine. It's not your kid's smarts I'd be worrying about were I you.

As a christian, believe it or not I am against organized religion in schools. Only because I believe in equal rights, and I wouldn't be comfortable having to sit through, say a satanic ritual. If somebody wants to do that, that is fine. Your article says nothing about bible studies, and other such activities. All it really says is if a student or students want to pray they can do so in a non disruptive manner. It does not say directly clubs and the like can be started. Its also not just the christians, other religions have been fighting this, like the muslims. Though when somebody says a muslim can't do something its considered racist, if a christian is told not to do something, it is considered constitutional, and thats NOT right. That is why I am against religion in school. Its a touchy subject, and especially today when kids are worried about being killed in school, I don't think they need to worry about religion. Lets save that for after school. If you want to pray or go to a bible study, do so with your friends at lunch, or better yet, GO TO CHURCH!

Sure but you will be taking the money from your local board of ed who will raise taxes to cover it and blame it on your lawsuit. You will become a town pariah. They will paint you as the working parent to busy with her own career to keep her kids in school who then sues to live off her neighbors money. If that's what you want, go for it...

you can and probably should. A settlement will probably be reached before it ever gets as far as the court house and you can recoup your losses. Good Luck to you!
