come back home and don't worry about if he is financially responsible for you or not. (That's just a throwback to the way he has treated you) you think you cant financially support yourself. You can and you will.

any crime committed in the USA has to be dealt with by the United States Judicial System, it is all about Jurisdiction. Only if the crime spanned international borders could Interpol, dual nation's, or the UN deal with such a thing. I am truly sorry for what happened to you, I understand and have been through a similar situation. Just deal with it in the US, take alimony, and get back to your family, but you will have to wait for the trial to be over. But judges don't look kindly on domestic violence, and usually the trials are over soon and in the favor of the abused... hope that helped and good luck

Each state has its own requirements for a divorce, and in most states, you have to have been a resident of a particular county for a particular amount of time (I would assume this applies to the UK, too). If it doesn't, then it's possible that a divorce granted by the U.K. would be valid here, under the full faith and credit clause -- but, because you have ties to the U.S., I seriously doubt that would be the case. . . you would probably have to move BACK to to Britain, and re-establish your life there, before you could do that -- in which case he would be subject to international service, and a crap-load of other issues.
If you want a definitive answer, you should definitely see an attorney.

First things first, get an attorney in the US without the knowledge of the American guy. I think the attny will advise U to file a police report. But U need the help of an attny to do this the right legal way, so U don't leave any loopholes.

No he will not be financially responsible for you if you leave him. That is your choice. Do you have kids? That would be your only hold for $$. And what do you think they are going to do, if you tell them in the UK what he has done? They will do nothing.
I would get out of that situation as fast as you can, and go back to the UK and just write this off to a bad lesson. Good luck.

People in Britain can do nothing for you; the crime was committed in the United States of America.

He will NOT be financially responsible for you. Even if you were both citizens, he wouldn't be. Courts do NOT like to award alimony or any other spousal support. When you go back to Britain, any ordinary solicitor can help you.

Why don't you consult a lawyer in the USA to sort out your matrimonial problems and then if you have any family in the UK, I am sure that they will be happy to see you and help you to get back to your normal yourself and start afresh.

Why should he be financially responsible for you? You should support yourself. If you can't live within your means, get a second job or lower your expenses. Take care of yourself, don't expect a man to support you.
File criminal charges against him if he beat you.
