I've been working at Steve and Barry's for about four months now and i honestly got the schedule wrong and didn't go into work one day. now there are a lot of people who don't show up and don't get fired but this is my first day and i haven't been warned or anything. it was an honest mistake and if i wasn't going to go into work i would have called out but instead they just fired me. can they legally do that?

He is suing her for 450.00 for $20 in clothes he bought her and TV he bought for her from good will and he is also suing her for a DVD player she returned to him and 50.00 he said was missing from his dresser and 300.00 ring that was missing from his dresser. I know my friend never stole anything from him she is the most honest person I know and the other things were gifts he never asked for her to give back except the DVD player... What should she do?

Applying for a supervisors position in the same company I work for now. I was told by many of the other current supervisors that I would be perfect for the position and should go for it. Well now that my interview is done, I was told I would not get a second because I have trouble with words ending in "ING" and that I looked good at the interview maybe I should try for a another position lower then the one I currently hold. Customers I work with have never complained they can't understand me or nor have any of my coworkers who I communicate with frequently for my position. What are my opitions? Should I complain to a higher up or could I sue?

About two months ago I had asked my roommate if it was ok for my boyfriend to move in here with us and she agreed. We went ahead and made all the preparations like he placing his notice at work, not signing up for classes in his college, etc. A few days ago she told me he could not be here anymore because her boyfriend did not want any other man in here. I then choose to move out and now she is harassing me, telling me she is not paying the breaking the lease contract, and telling me what my options are, claiming she doesn't have to pay for backing down. I don't want to have more issues with her because we work together, and the trust that was there is gone now. Can she sue me for breaking the lease and getting my own apartment?

i already had court as well as my "sentence" and everything but i had 7 other charges so the dui stayed and my lawyer told me that its going to be on my record for life and will be charged for a 2nd offense if done again within 10 years. but ive heard from basically everyone ive talked to that it wont be there in 7 years. ...?

I live in Illinois and I took out an installment loan. I was at a payday loan place, but come to find out I took out an installment loan. I lost my job and my payment was due Monday. I told them what happened but they wouldn't make arrangements with me. Today they called me threatening to take me to court. I know that I'm not protected by the payday loan laws. I read something about CILA. What can I do? They won't work with me. They want all or nothing. I was laid off and it's taking me a while to find a job. I am not trying to dodge them, I just can't pay it all back right now. Is my only option to let them take me to court?

My son is being charged with molesting his 6 year old step daughter. Basically, the mother got angry with him because of his punishment of the daughter for wetting herself, even though she's too old to be wetting herself. She needs to use the potty, he was only trying to be a parent to her where her mother is NOT parenting!
The little girl is alleging that he touches her and all this crap and social services is involved and the mother has filed charges against him and has left him and her brother is threatening him now that if he tries to talk to his wife he's going to get "messed up" so he has no way of talking to her to figure out what the bogus charges are for.
My son is not at all like that. He's not weird. He has a lot of friends and a good job and he's a nice guy, so how could the cops even begin to believe he'd do this sort of thing? It's ridiculous- and all because her daddy used to be a police officer!

I found out what "company" was doing this and when I contacted them, they didn't apologize for the mix up, or deny it was theft. They offered to repay me but said they could only go back three months. I had heard somewhere the FBI is in charge of electronic theft and identity fraud, is this true?

I was recently terminated from my job. The "reasons" they gave me seemed reasonable, even though I was shocked. Another manager there had done exactly the same thing I did, which was common knowledge, but she didn't get any type of discipline for her actions. Funny thing is, this termination came as a complete surprise to me, which I guess it shouldn't have because my District Manager had been singling me out ever since I fell and re-injured my back at work. Now I'm definetly wondering if the real reason they let me go was my worker's comp claim. I live in NV which is a "right-to-work" state, so I could not file a wrongful termination complaint with the labor board...anyone have some legal knowledge that might help me out here?

stealing, public nudity, marijuana use, and underage drinking. Not all of them, just one charge maybe, and not even a big one. Like say you stole a 20 dollar item, or got caught smoking pot once. Would they just think you were a kid then, but now you know better. Or will they completely reject you for it?

I was in my class and i made a turd out of tootise rolls as a joke and so i went into my class with it and my teacher got mad. I refused to give it to her and so i backed up to the wall and shuved it in my mouth. Than she grabbed my arm and started to pull the tootise roll out of my mouth(the turd was about 13 tootise rolls big) and it was stuck to my teeth. i tryed to get it out and when i finally did she still had my arm and was very upset and she told me to stay after class. I was suspended for 3 days and when i came back i was given Indecent Conduct. I was wondering if it was legal for her to grab my arm and what i could do about it

the court sets your bail at 10000. I don't think the bondsman pays the whole 10000 to bail you out. You just pay 1000 to the bondsman to get you out, so what really goes down there? this does not makes any sense. please any professional who can explain.
