Also, the first 90 days are typically a probationary period, meaning any single infraction can result in termination. Not showing up when scheduled without calling is defintely a big deal.
Who cares how they treat other people? If you go around expecting everything to be fair then you'll never move up in the world. You were on the schedule, the schedule was posted, you didn't show up. Honest mistake? Perhaps. But are you thinking it's NOT your responsibility to know your schedule?
Welcome to the real world. Mistakes have consequences, even if you don't always agree with them.

VA is work at will so yes they can just tell you to hit the door. Proving discrimination would be a huge, long and expensive process. One in which you would lose.
Now you could speak to the manager and THEN talk to a district manager and maybe work things out. Legal is not the way to go...... sometimes it takes person to person.

Technically you can be fired by a boss just because he/she doesn't like you. As long as they don't fire you for one of the discriminating factors or "big 5" as they are sometimes called(race, sex, religion, color, national origin/ethnicity), then they are completely within their rights.

Yes. Unconditional employment means you can quit without reason and they can fire you without reason. Unless you were working under contract, you have no grounds to complain. Just get another job.

Virginia is an employment at will state which means they can fire you for any reason or no reason as long as the reason isn't illegal (ie: discrimination based on sex, race, creed, etc). Welcome to the real world.

Notice of hearing and dismissal are the procedural requirements for a valid dismissal. Absence of any of the requirements will make the employer liable to pay backwages and reinstatement of the employee.
