I just wanted to know, is this actually covered under Texas' laws? That you can shoot someone breaking into your neighbor's house? I think its a little over excessive, but they deserve what they got. Thieves, who knows what they would have done if they would have been confronted with someone in the house?

My question: Can you shoot someone breaking into your neighbor's house/car/whatever?

Can you shoot someone breaking into your car? I didn't think you could unless they showed agressive actions towards you.

What do you guys think? What's the laws on this?

2 years ago, I was taken from my mom along with my sibs. because of "neglect".
I left to live with my dad and I came back in June 2007, but we didn't tell the Department about it.
My mom did her case plan and things are a lot better now.
But today, my mom said that the Department opened up a new case on me because I came back without telling them.
I've been going to school and I've been really happy and making great grades.
What can I do?
PLEASE HELP. I don't know how much time I have..

I basically was interested in starting a business with lotteries. I wondered if I would be able to engage in the act of lottery sales and drawings that pay out, in order to produce revenues for a business. I would like to form this business as a private company without affiliation from the state. Would I need state approval from the gaming board in order to open a business in this nature? Also if I were to do it on University grounds...would I be able to do it without permission from the state. Is there any laws federally barring this kind of business, or does it depend upon the certain laws of the particular state in question? Last question, if the state does not support the start up of a business in this nature, is it possible to start a company like this for the interenet, somewhat like an electronic lottery that can be used by persons either in one state or if applicable regarding state laws throughout the USA. Also, Can i research this in a regular state law library. Thanks much!!

We have LOST the "War on Drugs."

The Mafia was dying out at the turn of the last century. Prohibition brought them back from the dead.

The street gangs were dying out in the 1970s. The start of the "War on Drugs" in the 1980s brought THEM back from the dead.

Isn't it time we stopped spending so much more money on drug-related police and prison operations than on poverty programs, cancer research, and the space program COMBINED? Shouldn't we be spending that money on treatment and rehab instead?

If drugs were legal, wouldn't people with drug problems be more likely to seek help from a doctor or a psychiatrist, because they wouldn't be worried about prosecution?

Are politicians more interested in sounding "tough" than in actually helping to REDUCE the drug problem?

Is that why a "war on drugs" and not rehab and treatment?

Which do you think would do more to prevent people from shooting a bunch of people then committing suicide:

1- More gun control laws. (Preventing unstable people from buying guns and mandating that gun owners keep their guns locked up)
2- Banning the media from publishing shooters' names (like they do in some court cases with juveniles) so that nobody will think they can get famous by pulling that kind of stunt.

Especially when you can buy the very same medicine over the counter for about 3 euros in Spain, Portugal, Italy, France and Turkey.

Prescriptions in Scotland are free for doleys and workers.

Is this government racketeering? I can hardly go looking for the best price as I can for any other goods or services.

This is a safety concern to me and my family. Its also a nuisance abatement issue for the rest of my neighborhood.
When I and my family first moved to this town, it was a nice, quiet town, people were willing to work with their neighbors if a problem arose. And the city law enforcement was willing to help the citizens of the town to combat problems too.
Things have changed dramatically since then. it seems a certain family moved into town and now they are running the said town. I am afraid of my neighbors dog, and they know it. . I have to do my work outside my home to keep the yard looking nice. yet my neighbors have told me repeatedly, "dont go where the dogs can see you." They wont put up a privacy fence either. I know this may sound like an old saw, but I am really concerned, especially now that I know my neighbors have purposefully trained their dogs to be vicious. ( I heard the man who owns them say it.) I have told every law agency I know about this, and they just tu

And this question has nothing to do with Race/Color/Gender!!!

Im just saying, it I had a servant by my side at all times, I would be at least 10x more productive and more beneficial to society, since I would have so much more free time and it would be like adding hours to the typical 24hr-day.

My slave could be anything from a fully functional robot to a well-fit bum on the streets. I mean if you look at from his/her point of view...he/she is getting food and shelter for the service he/she provides me. Im not saying I would treat him/her the way slaves of the past were treated, but if he/she gets old or I stop liking their attitude, I could very easily make a trade to better suit my needs...

Just an opinion... and I thank America for letting me voice that opinion.

HAAHA...

I live in Toronto and we Canadians arent really like the US where gun ownership is seen akin to citizenship rights.
And I continuously hear of how illegal guns coming in from the US where gun laws are so lax are used in homicides.
So would there be less gun violence in Canada if the flow was eliminated?
And who should be responsible for that? Should US control its gun laws or should Canada be better at ensuring they dont get smuggled in?

I have a room mate who is doing drugs and drinking in our apartment, just got a DUI, drunk driving on a suspended license, coming home at all hours of the night, and brings home a different person every night to sleep on MY brand new couch. I am losing sleep, I feel uncomfortable in my own home, and when I confront my room mate about it, the reply I get is, "My friend was too drunk to drive home" or "I'll get my own couch so my friends have a place to sleep". I tell my room mate that his friends don't pay rent here so they are not entitled to a place to sleep but he is not seeing it my way. We are both on the lease to the apartment. Is there anything I can do to get him out?
