arrrghh i want to know where these people are getting this nonsence from saying that the flag needs to be burned if it touches the ground
this is completely NOT true!!!
i am a vexillologist (i study flags) and collector of flags specializing in the US flag
it is advised in the US flag code that he flag should not touch the ground
if your flag does touch the ground - simply pick it back up again
if your flag got dirty in the process of it touching the ground - simply wash the flag clean and raise it again
there is really absolutely no need to burn your flag unless it is damaged beyond any repair

My impact is that the English flag isn't dealt with with the comparable admire that the american flag was -- or a minimum of, with diverse regulations. ("was," because of the fact i think of making the flag into lapel pins is fairly disrespectful in itself.) seems to me that at one time, in line with possibility now for all i understand, British couples who married at British embassies did so status on a flag. once you have royalty, you do not make considered one of those fuss over different symbols.

You should retire it. Which means disposing of it properly. Usually the American Legion will take them and burn them the appropriate way.
God Bless America!
