What is your stand on partial birth abortion ban? Also, how you would have voted in the case if you were on the Supreme Court?

When I was in seventh grade we wrote letters to the president asking him to ban this method. I find it so horrifying, how could anyone do that? They stick a tube in the babies neck and suck out the brain with a vaccuum? Not just the mother but the doctors and nurses as well...

Im not sure if this is true but, I heard that if the babies head comes out to far, they cant do the abortion because its considered 'born', and there were some testimonies of doctors and nurses that quit doing this because they heard one of the babies cry and they realized the horror of what they were doing.

I am prolife but I understand ppls reasons in some cases and it is definetly more understandable if the pregnancy is terminated very early on but this way is a monstrosity.

This does happen, I was going to partake in this survey or something where we were going to watch a video of this being done and answer questions or something and get paid. It was through a friends moms friend and we were late so she said we couldnt watch it because the others had already started but we still each got 50 bucks...

And to Barry C...are you a woman? A mother? You have no clue, so keep your propaganda speach to mens issues guy.

I would have voted against the ban.

ANY kind of abortion should be up to the pregnant woman after consulting a medical professional. It would be the decent thing to do to consult with her partner, but it shouldn't be required by law.

People who are NOT offering to take the fetus into their own womb or to care for the child after birth should have NO say in the matter.

That "partial birth" thing is a scam, a label made up by anti-abortion advocates to win debates by framing the question.

Free abortion on demand!

Obama voted against the Infants Protection Act, which provided for emergency medical care to infants who, during the procedure of late term abortion, were actually born alive. The language of the bill in no way interfered with the woman's right to abortion, but instead addressed itself to the medical care of "products" of abortion, who were delivered with heartbeat and respiration. The alternative to providing medical care is to allow the infant to lie unattended on a cold metal table until hypothermia produced death. Obama opposed this medical care. Edit: Jenny, you are mistaken. Oh, sorry, Jenny, I read your answer wrong. So sorry. You are correct. From the website that you provided, Obama voted against a bill that would ban partial birth abortion. Therefore his vote against the bill was a vote FOR partial birth abortion. And here is his statement about abortion and partial birth abortion: Q: What us your view on the decision on partial-birth abortion and your reaction to most of the public agreeing with the court's holding? A: I think that most Americans recognize that this is a profoundly difficult issue for the women and families who make these decisions. They don't make them casually. And I trust women to make these decisions in conjunction with their doctors and their families and their clergy. And I think that's where most Americans are. Now, when you describe a specific procedure that accounts for less than 1% of the abortions that take place, then naturally, people get concerned, and I think legitimately so. But the broader issue here is: Do women have the right to make these profoundly difficult decisions? And I trust them to do it. There is a broader issue: Can we move past some of the debates around which we disagree and can we start talking about the things we do agree on? Reducing teen pregnancy; making it less likely for women to find themselves in these circumstances. Source: 2007 South Carolina Democratic primary debate, on MSNBC Apr 26, 2007 I find it very characteristic of him, that when an uncomfortable topic is introduced, he wants to "move past" it and on to something else (anything else, Lord!). From partial birth abortion to reducing teen pregnancy. Mercy!

Partial Birth abortion is revolting. My vote would 99.9% of the time be against any type of abortion. It should always be banned. You are taking someone's life away that never had a chance to live.

There is no such thing as "partial birth abortion" in medical terms. That is a legal term created by pro-life propagandists to horrify the public.

There are also no videos or photos of abortions, because doctors know this is a violation of a woman's privacy.

As long as it is done within the first three months of a woman's pregnancy then I am pro-choice. It has been scientifically proven that only in a handfull cases has a baby of 4 months lived after the mother has given birth. Anything before that and the baby does not survive. So, I believe that abortion up to the thirt month is fine, pro-choice.

Partial birth abortion is done late in pregnancy. Labor is induced and the baby is killed as it is being born, before it takes it's first breath. That's murder, no matter how you look at it.

they give drugs to send the woman into premature labor. after she pushes the baby out they stab the baby in the base of the skull with a pair of scissors and the baby reacts physically. that is the truth! there's nothing partial about the birth. and its not abortion is murder, its killing that baby. how could you hold a helpless baby in your hands and stab him in the head and justify it.
N. Cognito I have been to an abortion clinic and seen women all of them with hugely swollen belly's filling a waiting room to capacity, each of them there for late term abortion.
my cousin worked in an abortion clinic and they are not performed seldomly, they are performed regularly.

I believe abortion is wrong, in the case of partial birth abortions it is also inhumane, it is the worst type of torture.

I draw a line here except in case of medical emergency. I think this is begging to cause problems that even pro-abortion people are going to have problems with
