My company does the same thing, and yes it is 100% legal. The company determines whether or not employees have the right to smoke on their property. If their car is parked on their property then they can still tell employees they can't smoke in their vehicles.
However, they CANNOT tell you that you cannot smoke on adjacent properties that the company doesn't own. We actually have over 200 people that work at my company and all of the smokers walk across the street and smoke on the curb. Its kind of funny when you pull into our lot because there is always 5 or so people outside smoking across the street from our company.
A lot of companies are moving to this as a way to improve their image and become a more "health conscience" business.

The question needs elaboration whether the car was broken by another employ and some thing fall over it and so..... However if it has been broken by a person other than employer then that person is to pay the damages and if it broke as a result of work being done for the employer then in this case the employer is responsible otherwise the insurance companies.

I can not believe that your employer would have the right to stop you from smoking in you car in their lot. That seems bizarre. Would they let you smoke in your car in front of the building. I'm not a smoker, but that's taking it too far.

They can legally do it in Indiana! They own the property so they can tell you what you can & cannot do on their property. They are also telling people that they cannot leave the property for lunch & getting by with it, they do not even pay you for your lunch time! No one is fighting it, so guess they all wanted to stop smoking anyway.

Big Brother is everywhere. There are places where you can't smoke in your own apartment.
