Hi. I lived in Los Angeles until 2004, when I had to move back to my native country for health reasons, leaving my credit cards debts behind (approx. $16,000). Before leaving, I went to the Post Office to have my mail forwarded from my last residence to a friend's address in L.A.. In 2006, my friend moved out, but he knows the current tenant at the address I had my mail forwarded to.
In Nov. 2006, I moved from my native country out to Puerto Rico, where I'm living... VERY poorly.
Last week, my friend from L.A. called me to tell me the police came to his previous place to serve a Plaintiff's Claim to me. The current tenant TOOK the papers, thinking they were destined to my friend's mother!!!!!!!!
On the L.A. Superior Court website, my case summary shows that everybody believes that I live in L.A.at this address, and the court hearing is scheduled in one month. Can I challenge the Claim's service with the Clerk's Office before the hearing? Or could a "Motion to Quash" help? Thanks ++++:)

Is it possible to take an appointment with a lawyer to get an opinion only, for the time being at least. A neighbour is harassing me about my cats and I would like to know what I can do about it. He said he will cause me trouble. What can I do to prevent trouble as I am very worried, my cats are precious to me. What kind of attorney should I see: municipal affairs or human rights ? My cats stay indoors, still this man wants to punish me for having thought his wife was his daughter (she is much younger than he is) I made a mistake but he does not want to forgive and forget. His father was once the mayor of our municipality and as such I fear he has friends at City Hall. HELP ! This is no joke, it is most serious to me, I would die without my cats. Thank you so much.

Input on each question;
1) Should the U.S. governemnt get into the major drug business? We could manufacture, market and sell all the drugs like heroin, marijuana, LSD, crack, cocaine and you name it. We could sell it in places like a bar and pocket the profits. Imagine the potential.
2) Do you feel we would have more, about the same or less users if it were sold by our government?
3) Is there really any difference between these drugs and alcohol?
Thanks for you time and honesty.

On my blog, I posted my grandmother's grave stone, as visiting it was part of my day's activities. Now, a family member is trying to get me to take it off by threatening to go to an attorney. Do they have any legal right to do this at all? Should I be worried?

If I was PM I would make it law to ban fags... All they do is cause cancer, health problems and corrupt politicians under influence from their companies. Apparently, if they had to undergo modern safety tests, they would fail due to the 69 chemicals inside them which cause cancer.

What do you think. Should fags be outlawed as I think?

& More importantly, why haven't they been illegal already?

Please && Thank you!!

This may vary from state to state, so if it does, this is in the state of Pennsylvania.

Here's the situation. I have a friend who has been seperated for 5 years. He filed for a divorce, but his wife refuses to sign the papers. He has a new girlfriend that he has been with for 3 years, and he wants to marry her, but he can't because he can't get his divorce finalized.

Is there any way around this? If his wife keeps refusing to sign the papers, is there some type of law or statute that says the divorce will automatically be final after x amount of time??

Please help.

I am a legal assistant for an attorney in Georgia.

I know of a client who is in dire financial straits. He is in bad health. He just had a terrible seizure, and bit through his tongue. He has diabetes, back problems, etc. He can't work.

He told me over the phone that the other night, his little boys went to bed hungry. They are about 7 and 8 years old.

This poor man is disabled. He was literally crying on the phone with me, because he is so worried for his kids. He believes that he will not live much longer. Maybe a year.

His wife doesn't earn much money, either.

I want to help him and his family. What can I do?

I thought about sending him money- but if I sent it anonymously, it would have to be cash, right? What if it gets stolen before he can get it in the mail?

What about this idea: what about sending him a Wal-Mart gift card?

Any ideas on what I can do for him?

If my boss found out, would I get in trouble? Possible conflict of interest?

Thanks.

I've been reading news article on MIAMI NEW TIMES by Chuck Strouse, which frankly I never thought I would read in a local newspaper. While not having finished it I've read enough to be astonished and it's occurred to me that if he were to run same fate as many other reporters and journalists, especially the two who've had to hide in other countries, precisely for their detailed explanations of Colombian president Alvaro Uribe's lengthy and deep connection with drug lords, and who were advised to hide after repeated death threats; could this reporter or any other American citizen be protected by completely armed men, legally?

I don't mean just any bodyguard. I mean Blackwater type of security. Supposing that any American citizen on USA soil would require this; is it legal and absolutely possible without any strings attached?!...Reading the article it's made think there would definetely be many who could do with such protection.

I been rolling this around in my head. We in this country have the technology to stop Teen pregnancy cold. If every girl at the age of 12 was implanted with IUD or given Depo-Provera shot the numbers would fall dramatically. Almost a million teenage girls become pregnant every year. This is more stress and strain on the system and kids that aren't needed for anything. It would also cut down on the number of abortions making the nut jobs happy.

I also believe any women applying for welfare or any benefits applying to a newborn child should be sterilized in order to be allowed to receive benefits. This will also stop her from being a further drain on the system. This would also work towards population control.

I don't know i just feel this would be a good start at stopping the drain on the system that these monkey's cause.

I am 16 (almost 17), have a good paying job, and could be self-sufficient. I live in TN, which is the problem because there are no emancipation laws here. I want to 'divorce my parents', I guess you'd say. This is because the environment here is TOO STRESSFULL!! People yell 24/7, my step dad threatens to kill every animal I own daily, and I am always hearing about how bad my real dad is, because he can't afford child support. I always hear about how "He's always hanging out with whores" and how he's "A Loser". I'm sick of it. And whenever I say it offends me, they yell more and give me the whole "He's a dumb a**" lecture. How can I get out of this house?? Some people say "Oh, every kid is unhappy with their parents' rules." Well you've never met my family, or you'd understand. Anyhow, how in the world could I get out of this house? I'm ready to just leave.

People who are about to get sued will try the old trick of declining the papers. What's the logic in that? The lawsuit will still continue. Trying to serve someone papers is a dangerous job. See TMZ.com to check out what someone had to go through when they tried to serve Diddy with them.
