A friend of mine was indicted on a possession charge in the state of Texas. The court granted that she could not afford counsel, and appointed her legal counsel. Never was she told she would be held accountable for the attorneys fees nor any portion of the expense of representation.

She chose to fight the charge against her; needless to say with the counsel she had for representation her efforts were less than fruitful as the attorney did no more than stand by while she was sentenced. Six months after the Final Sentencing was signed and filed she recieved a letter from the court billing her $1,800. for the attorneys fee which she would be allowed to make monthly payments. Also she was instructed to pay the court cost in monthly payments to the County Sheriff's Department instead of the Court Clerk. I have spent some time looking at the statues, I can not find where the court after the sentencing would bill for representation nor direct court cost to a Sheriff's Dept.

I'm developing a comprehensive medical scheduling, booking, and client registration software for a medical office that is powered by php, mysql, and ajax to be run locally on their network. I am also taking care and maintaining all of their computers and electronics in the office, so I maintain 7 palm pilots, several computers, and any other technological problems they have... I've seen the bills they used to pay for computer problems, they'd call in technicians nearly weekly and pay anywhere between $150 to $250 for visits that last 15 minutes to a few hours.

I'm only being paid $12.50 an hour and only being paid to work 30 hours a week, do you think I am being paid fairly to do all of this or should I be paid more? I'm pretty sure that the software alone that i'm developing should be a minimum of $10k if I was contracted, and I am technically contracted to wkr there until december.. but nothing more about programming.. am I being paid enough?

Besides murdering innocent soldiers and each other, and although not shown they presumably rob, pillage, and commit other crimes, they also betray each other at every step. If it weren't for the supernatural plot elements these films would be nothing but butchery and thievery. Can anyone justify the presentation and glorification of these immoral behaviors? How does Disney do so?

People argue that boot camp instills discipline and makes offenders have respect for themselves. They also argue that new initiatives are needed for repeat offenders and boot camp encompasses education discipline and a variety of courses.

On the other hand, it is aruged that boot camp increases the sense of rage, injustice and lack of control of ones life. What can you expect when you shave someones head make them wear military fatiges and do military excercises, boot camp turns them into more dangerous criminals with the public paying the price.

So where do we draw the line? Whats your position on the need for boot camps/correctional facilities?

Basically he was complaining about his paycheck and said he was under the impression he was being paid more. I said no and asked where he heard that. He said that the other boss of our department said it (he and I have a similar job). He is on vacation, but I'm 99% sure this guy isn't supposed to be paid more. I told him he would have to wait until I got ahold of my coworker. He said he can't wait any longer because he has bills to pay and that he thought this company was "professional."

I told him he was free to leave at anytime and that people are pretty much lined up to get his job and that we won't miss a beat without him.

So he quit. Who's fault is this?

I think it's useless. Waste of taxpayers' money, and I'm kind of offended that I have to hold up a card to show I am an American. It reminds me of concentration camps...remember how the Jews had to wear Stars of Davids? Also...if we can counerfeit money...who's to say we can't duplicate these cards as well?

My hubby and his ex- split in 1998 and divorced in 1999. They had a child together in 93. In 1999, at the divorce and custody hearing the custody was given to the mother, the child's name was allowed to be changed to the mother's maiden name, visitation was authorized for my hubby, and ZERO child support was ordered. We never did get any of the visitation ordered as she disappeared with the child, and has not contacted us as ordered in the decree. Ok. So yesterday when we checked the mail, we have a court summons where she is sueing us for child support. I don't mind paying support for the child, but she also wants to be given support from 1998 to current. IS this actually LEGAL since no support was ordered in the orginial and it has been almost 9 years?? Also anyone know of any good attorneys in Hardin county, KY? Court date is Nov 13 (not even a month)

I have worked for a boat company for 15 years. I am in charge of the service department. I have been asked recently to sing a confidentiality agreement. In that agreement, it also said I could not compete with my present employer. I after refusing to sign it because of the non complete provision, they removed it. I still dont want to sign because I am scared that it might affect futher employment. The agreement talks about secrets and I dont know of any secrets. I just fix boats. If they let me go, can I collect unemployment till I get back on my feet? I have three kids and a mortage payment and I am a little scared. Any advise would help! THanks

My sister is the executor of our grandparents estate. My grandmother passed back in February of this year, and we just sold her house in the beginning of August. Does it usually take two months to sort everything out with the inheritance? Every time I talk with my sister, she doesn't know anything. She says she is having a hard time getting the lawyer to call her back. She finally talked with the receptionist at his office, but didn't get a direct answer from her. Sometimes when my sister says things, she embellishes (sp?), or doesn't tell the whole truth. I've asked for the lawyer's contact info, and of course I was forgotten. My sister said she would email it to me on Friday. Never got it. She's in New Mexico, while everyone else is out of state. So it's kind of hard to know what all is going other than from her.
Has anyone gone through this? I've heard it doesn't take this long for things to be settled and divided out. Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

I am trying to find real answers. It has been over 150 years since the Emancipation Proclaimation ended slavery. But Blacks still are not on par with Whites. My great grandfather fought in the 8th Illinois Calvary (led by Custer at Gettysburg) and wounded 11 times in battle. He clearly fought to end slavery. It is past time for Blacks to be made equal in every way. All Blacks want in general is equality. Very few want or expect any favoritism or compensation for the past.

I work at a major electronics store. I'm not going to say what company but anyway, Their policy is not to hire anybody under 16. I lied when I applied I said I was 16. solely because I wanted to work because I love electronics. But my work permit clearly said 15 and they missed it the first time around. They have also been working me during week days more then 3 hours, which is illegal, even if I was 16. also been working me more hours then is legally allowed for a minor per week. A half a year later, I had to renew my work permit, and just a few days ago my boss said that corperate called and found me out while looking over my new permit. He also advised me that I cant work more than 3 hours a week day. He told me to just keep working so he can figure it out. In which one of the days was a week day where I was scheduled to work more then 3 hours.

I have a problem with the way this company is run, getting swindling customers and encouraging it.

Can I sue this company?
