I am trying to find real answers. It has been over 150 years since the Emancipation Proclaimation ended slavery. But Blacks still are not on par with Whites. My great grandfather fought in the 8th Illinois Calvary (led by Custer at Gettysburg) and wounded 11 times in battle. He clearly fought to end slavery. It is past time for Blacks to be made equal in every way. All Blacks want in general is equality. Very few want or expect any favoritism or compensation for the past.

The way to end it is to stop teaching hatered, separation and special treatment to our youth. Racism is taught; not something that is genetic. As long as we continue to show our children our errors and that we haven't corrected them, then the hatered and racism will go on.

Education is the key.

Racism comes in different forms - simple name calling, organized hate groups, or just inequality in access to education and public services.

I must disagree with the user that posted that racism is simply something that is held onto. Maybe that is true where his coworker lives, but it's not hard to find news articles about minorities (not blacks exclusively) that were assaulted for their race and the KKK is alive and well (check out their webpage).

Education is key, especially to the young generation. And the education applies to both sides of the coin. Not only are there white hate groups. There are black mobs, asian triads that 'stick to their kind'. That kind of attitude would only harvest more 'intro-ethnic' thoughts.

Don't let the mainstream media teach your kids, do it yourself. Observe your community with your own eyes, not through the tube.

I hate to burst your bubble, but if your great-grandfather fought at Gettysburg, he wasn't fighting to end Slavery.

The Civil War wasn't about Slavery until after Gettysburg.

I counter your good judgment with slightly action picture pronounced as "night of the living lifeless." The political satire finished via one, Geroge A. Romaro, confirmed a much greater plausible factor of humanity. the international develop into in chaos, human beings have been loss of existence everywhere, desire appeared distant, and uncomplicated evils including racism and greed performed strongly in human beings's action in those darkish cases. Watch the zombie video clips made via Geroge A. Romaro, no longer the remakes finished via others, and you will see that, in spite of being gory and fright-crammed video clips, a stable message approximately political and social status is being made besides, yet you're too busy being nervous of being consume alive to take extensive be conscious.

I was speaking with my coworker about issues the other day. He is black, and almost 50 years old. He told me that there isn't hardly any noticable signs of racism that he sees, or any lack of opportunities for anybody. Everybody seems to be equally allowed opportunities, actually though minorities still get more perks to get education and training but anyway. He pretty much said that problems are the same for all people, lack of good parents. Black, white, hispanic, asian, any race, needs to have good parents and strong family to raise strong and honest people. Racism is more of something people cling to today in order to make themselves feel special. Just like racist people do to make themselves feel better. It's an illusion. Let it go.
