There is a pace on line you can compare pay rate in different states but my mind went south now I cant remember it sorry . But I believe Texans love there teacher as well as we all do .

California teachers make 4 or 5 grand more then in Texas, but the cost of living in California is way higher, so I'd guess that the Texas position is actually better.

Texas is a horrible place to teach. You will get paid next to nothing. However, the cost of living is a lot less. Look up the specific salaries at http://www.salary.com

Cost of living is way different in TX then it is in Cal. So teachers get paid more there but have to spend more. It probably comes out to about the same.

And we don't even have state income taxes. I guess California over spends. Plain and simple. Oh the Texas legislature is hardly ever in session. And thus less intervention from the government.
