My deceased step-mother did not name my father as executor of her estate. (We didn't know this.) They were married 12 years and lived together in my Dad's home. The executor, who is not an attorney, says that he cannot open my deceased step-mother's mail. Is this true? How can it be? We are tempted to plain not give it her and tell her she needs to get the mail forwarded. Except how can a deceased a person get their mail forwarded anywhere. Just a little bit of sarcasm here.

I got pregnant in Indianapolis In. I moved from there to Tennessee. I didn't want to marry the babies daddy. So I moved back in with my parents. My question is this....I have to fill out a absent parent form stating who the father is. I am thinking that I have to do this is because if it turns out (after DNA) that it is his baby then they will make him pay out of his pocket. Is this true? Will they(medicaid) go after him to pay all the bills for this baby? I don't have job and I don't have insurance. I am on WIC, Medicaid and food stamps. Also will they (medicaid) be the one to go after him for child support or do I have to do that separately? I want him to pay for his child monthly but I don't want him to have to pay for the baby being born.

This is a simple question targeted toward those who understand my point and question. I am not looking for someone's two cents about whether people should or shouldn't be killed, how, or for what reason. Regardless of your stance, I am trying to get a broader perspective on how and why the Supreme Court should or should not analyze the so-called "standards" of lethal injections (on a site with a much broader audience than say, Above the Law). Personally, I see it as a legislative question as opposed to a judicial one, but I'm curious as to what other lawyers or law students or legal scholars who happen to visit this site think and are willing to share.

Do you think affirmative action is unfair, especially when colleges and universities use it? Shouldn't everyone have an equal chance to get into college?
For example, asians and whites should have a higher test score in order to be considered on the same level with other ethnicities who have lower test scores.
I'm not being racist or anything like that, just wondering what people think about affirmative action.

I understand that when the Supreme Court decides on a case, it set precedent for future cases. However, when that decision is made does it then become law? E.g: Supreme Court deciding that burning the American Flag is allowable because it falls under the protection of the first amendment incorporated by the fourteenth. Then can legislation make a law banning flag burning if the court decided it was okay?

If a male exposes himself (even for a quick moment) to a female employee while they are the only two in the store (both are employees) how much money can the female get in lawsuits and how much trouble will the guy get into?

I am asking as a hypothetical question just because me and a friend are arguing that the female would get more from suing the store than suing the male who exposed himself.

Can I sue my employer for my permanent injuries? I had a spinal fusion. Now i have a metal plate in my neck, and constant pain. BWC agrees I will be in pain for the rest of my life, and have permanent restrictions. Any ideas? Please help before i go broke. Thanks

Quick details, the company I work for is threatening a lawsuit against a client that I worked on and with who I have a great rapport and possible future career opportunities. The bad thing is that I think my company is in the wrong and would be setting myself up here. I am REALLY uncomfotable with having to testify and I am pretty darn sure I will be called. If I do, do I have to testify? Thanks!
