The reason for this question is that I never have paid much attention to this and I was wondering how important is it to know who and what type of record that they hold.

Not many people do -- and often judges at least run unopposed.

Generally, those local offices are not that important to many people, because there is often not a lot of impact that a bad choice would have -- and because the people who run for the positions tend to have similar qualifications.

I know I don't. You usually don't even know about any of them. most of the time I will just leave that section go & not vote for any of them.
