first off, i'm not saying indictment isn't a serious matter (b/c obviously it is) what I'm asking is why is it considered more serious than being charged with a crime? is indictment and charged the same thing or not? thanks.....

If I call the police, they never get here before the smell leaves... and I also don't want the idiot who is smoking it to do anything to my car if he finds out it's me who called. I don't know what to do. He smokes it in the back yard and the smell comes into my side windows and make's my whole house smell. It's disgusting.

I'm writing a paper on an ethical situation where an inmate asks a prison guard to mail a letter after their mail privileges where taken away. I was under the impression that because the inmate is allowed to participate in their legal defense throughout the appeals process and mail would be an integral part of this, that this would be against the law. Is there ways around this? Or can prison officials withhold mail as a punishment?

Basically, the message I get from pro-choice people is, we're sanctioning abortions for people who have irresponsible, unprotected, pre-marital sex...and if anyone questions the ethics of this, we'll just fall back on the rape and incest arguement, even though we all know the majority of unwanted pregnancies happen as a result of the former methods.

What if you are seeing 2-3 different doctors and they all have a different opinion on your disability status? One of my doctors has me on a temporary partial (which he will probably lift when I see him next week), and one of my doctors has me on a permanent partial...I also have an appointment with another doctor for a third opinion (all in the same week). Which doctor does worker's comp go by? Should I cut it down to just one doctor? I'm really confused.

this is in a situation where a landlord enters to make a necessary repair without proper notification. Would the landlord be arrested before taken to small claims court?

It seems like someone is suing me at the small claim court, and the new tenant of my old apartment (where I moved out 13 months ago) accidently signed the subpeona, and she got my cell number from the manager and left a message like that. Do I have to appear to this trial? Will it be void because I didn't sign the paper? Help. Thanks.

Why are death row inmates, scheduled to die for the crimes they have committed, allowed to file lawsuits in the first place? I just read that 2 inmates have filed suits alleging that lethal injection is cruel and unusual punishment because "IF" not enough anesthetic is administered, the inmate feels pain. WTF? One of them was convicted of shooting and killing 2 cops, the other convicted of killing a couple and shooting their 2 year old! How do these people have any rights whatsoever? Is the result of their actions not "cruel and unusual punishment" since their families have to live without them and that 2 year old will likely not even remember his parents? I am just outraged at this! Just as a convicted felon loses his/her gun rights and right to vote, so should inmates lose all rights when they enter the prison system. Why are we so concerned with how the inmates feel when they obviously had a disregard for society as a whole, or they wouldn't be where they are.

My husband and I have custody of my daughter from a previous relationship. The biological father has not seen her for 2 and a half years and has never contacted me wanting to see her. We are in the Army and will be getting out around this time next year and I am wondering if it is illegal to take her out of the state? He has no visitation or rights to her, he was paying child support but I have canceled due to his lack of seriousness and me getting tired of taking trips downtown to fight him for it. I need to know if he has any rights to whether or not he knows where she lives?? Thank you!

in detail I have friend who was married to this guy years this last July.. However in 2006 he was cheating on her with some girl he worked with and she had became pregnant. In Feb. of 2007 he left the day after their son's birthday without warning okay so when taxes came around she filed in July they were still together then. and he went and filed again to try and get her into trouble which in turn he owns instead of getting a refund she found a paper that was filed out against her for tax fraud. in this his statement was lies. such as being seperated for over 11 months last year and the kids lived with him.. in truth they lived together. on this paper he has her address of her parents who lives in another state. And it also goes on that he considered his wife Dangerous due to the fact she was mentally unstable and her behaviour was unpredicatable. there wasnt a ounce of truth in his statement. not sure if it had in fact been filed. and cant afford a laywer and unsure what to do

She went out on a date with this guy and while in the throughs of passion, requested that he wear a condom to prevent pregnancy. He stated that he was certifiably sterile since the age of twenty (he now 47) and that with all the promiscuity he had engaged in in the past, not one pregnancy had occurred. She, believing him, went on and had sex without protection: She is now pregnant with twins;and, he...STILL maintaining that he was sterile, but that "a miraculous conception" had taken place to have produced the now presenting twin fetuses in her womb. He further states that he cannot marry her because she has two children already from two different fathers, and that she is therefore the whore in this situation. Nevertheless, he has talked her into letting him move in with her and her 'bastard children', as he previously called them, in her two bedroom apartment. No marry. I feel sad for my friend and think she is overdue for some sort of legal action on the part of this deceitful man.

I am a US Navy sailor and have been in the navy for approx 2 years now. While I was in boot camp, A school, and then on to a deployment. My wife basically left my son with her parents. When I returned from overseas, I was served with adoption papers by her parents on the grounds of abandonment. I currently live in VA and there was a court date on 9-20-83. I got all the way to Dallas Ft worth airport to find out that national rent a car had lost my reservation. I did not get a car in time to get to the court date and they found him eligible for adoption. I know I need to file and appeal, but don't really have the money for travel, and lawyers fees. I desparatly need help from any one who has any ideas or suggestions. My son lives with his grandparents in Duncan OK. Please Help!

For example, Britany Spears and Kevin Federline were allowed joint cusitody of their children, and the court took into consideration that both parents abuse alcohol and drugs. The court only ordered that they not use drugs around their children, but isn't substance abuse grounds for removing the children from their parents' care because clearly as drug abusers, they are unfit to care for small children?

One of these inmates gunned down two policemen, in front of witnesses no less, when they came to arrest him. The other is a mentally retarded guy who was probably set up by the real killers. At the very least, there is lots and lots of reasonable doubt. No criminal record, no motive, no forensic evidence. One guy deserves to die, the other does not. Yet prosecutors don't really seem to care. It's just a mark on a scorecard to them. As long as the death penalty is applied so capriciously, it needs to be stopped. I support the death penalty in principle, but it seems that the police and the state prosecutors are too callous, too corrupt, too incompetent, and waaaaay too dumb to handle these life and death decisions.

What should we do?
