Law & Ethics - September 2007

I was thinking the other day that I don't think I would really do anything differently at all if there were no laws! The reason I don't steal, murder, etc, isn't because there are laws against it, but because I don't believe in doing things like that. I wouldn't even go any faster in my car, because I believe in being safe!

The only thing I could think of that would be different is I probably wouldn't pay my taxes! hahaha.

okay i dont have a saftey check for my car, and i want to get one. how can i if its illegal to go on the road and get one at the saftey check center. some of these laws confuse me and dont make any sense.dumb gov!!!

Earlier today our neighborhood was blocked off within a 4 block radius. A man had ran out of his depressants and started shooting at a man (that was on school property). Well, after an hour of police trying to calm him down.. I was still very agitated. I was shaking etc and trying to get in contact with a family member (to make me feel better). 100s of neighbors were affected, as well as about 30 city/state police.

No one cared or showed compassion and just said "oh well". Then there are the people that didn't even respond to my voicemails. Do people just hate me?

are you supposed to pull over and stop or do you just have to pull over??
I am wondering because the lady who I car pool with never pulls over and I always wonder if she is supposed to. I asked one day just to see what she would say and so that she would actually do it the next time but she said she didn't know. She is 65 and has been driving for about 50 years. You would think she would know the rules. I dont drive by the way so I am not 100 percent sure what the rules are.

We have a complete society now bullet proofing everything, we have countries who's forefathers gave them the right bear arms, and that is their right. They can have as many guns as they want; these are only delivery platforms, the real killer is the bullet and there are only five places int hte world that produce bullets, there is no mention of this in an constitutional rights of any country and it is my right to call for the banning or major control of the bullet

A person gets a really bad sandwich from Subway and immediately wants to sue the company. Law suits are expensive and its clear the issue was not the companies but an employee of that company. I could see it if the company bought a ton of bad food and made a corporate decision to sell it rather then trash it; but if the wrongful act was that of a $9 an hour employee why is the company at fault?

i was getting out of work and walking to my car (. i park in the very back of the lot. its against a major road so EVERYONE can see the car. (i do it because i kept getting dents from peoples doors).
i just bought a new viper alarm with a bright blue flashing LED light so people know i have an alarm. so its dark and 1045 and there was a cop parked next to my car. he shinned that light on me and i walked to his door. he got out and showed me that 2 guys were using a hanger and a wire to disconnect my alarms horn. and i asked him, did you catch them???? and he said no they took off in a car. then i said well did you chase them? and he said no i called 2 cars. then i said did you get there plates? and he said no.

Is something wrong with this picture???? i got no report or paperwork

Provided there was the public will to do this, what would be the constitutional procedures through which abortion could be totally banned in the USA?

Would congress have to pass a law? What (if any) would be the supreme courts role?

Just to be clear, I am not looking to debate the subject of abortion. Rather, I am curious about the legal procedures that could happen if it were to be made illegal.

I am 17 the male and the girl is older.. i dont want to say the age.., but its by more than a couple years.. Is it illegal for them to talk everyday and say i love you and stuff? to basically have a long distance relationship.. We have all seen news stories of people being prosecuted for possession of child pornography because service technicians have found child pornography on their hard drive. Usually it is a big news item and prosecutors want to lock them up and throw away the key. I know that what they have is illegal and they should be prosecuted for it. What dumbfounds me is that the purveyors of this filth seem to be imune to prosecution. Why are Internet Service Providers who make this available on their newsgroup servers not prosecuted for it? There is some really disgusting material on these servers and it would seem to me to be more effective to go after those who provide for the distribution of child pornography than to go after the sick individuals who download it. Why does it seem like they are imune from prosecution? There is a lot of horible stuff out on their servers and they cannot not be aware of it.

I'm familiar with the stages of grieving, but I am wondering about the business of death.

I know my father has a will, but both my sister and I live several states away from him. He's already fought cancer once and goes hunting a lot, even though he's very old and is a lifetime smoker. He lives alone but does have some friends.

So I was wondering, if he dies, say, hunting or something and is found, who would notify me? How would they find my phone number? Who executes the will, makes arrangments, etc? Would I need to do anything? I have small children and I'd hate to drag them around the country or leave them for long.

No one close to me has ever died - does anyone know what happens?

Ok, so, I' in 8th grade, right. So, there's this sixth grader, who, nobody really likes. But in band, I'm his section leader. I have to treat him as fairly as possible, considering he listens to nothing I say, and he's a complete pervert. But we were doing juries (musical Auditions sort of things) and We hada movie on while people were doing their juries. And I went to sit with my friends on the floor. I turned around real quickly after some of my friends behing told me i needed to turn around, and there was Albert (Annoying kid everyone hates,) and he was STARRING down my pants.
Now I figured, hey, If something more happens, I'll talk to Mr. Ferrario about it. And I agreed on that. But then I realized that I said the same thing to myself a couple weeks ago when he kept rubbing up againest me.
I feel totally invaded, and I hate how I feel like the dirty one, but i didn't do anything.
Do you consider this sexual harrassment and should I turn him in to Mr. Ferrario.

Is it possible for an illegal immigrant to file a law suit aganist her boss for sexually harassing her? Her boss forcefully touched her in places she didn't like, while she kept telling him to stop and put her out of the car. He violated her to the fullest extent..and then claimed he didn't know how else to tell her that he was letting her go.

my brother and a few other colleagues got fired, but they classified it as "indefinite suspension" so they are unable to collect unemployment. There has to be a loop hole. Doesn't unemployment insurance come out of your paycheck?? Isn't he entitled to that money should he be let go?
