iam about to get hire i think but i have a misdemeaor for marjuian possion and was wondering if it will show up

It depends when it was and what type of background check the employer does. Another key fact is whether you were fingerprinted for the charge. If you were not fingerprinted and the employer merely does a criminal record check through the state, the charge should not be in that database. However, if the charge was recent and your state has put court records on-line, an employer who runs a search through the court records would find it. Likewise, if you were fingerprinted, it would show up on a criminal record check run through the state unless it is a closed record under state law.

It depends on your state laws. In California it's an infraction, a violation of the health and safety code.

I had a pot ticket back in the early 90's, since then I've had a couple background checks, never came up.

I guess it depends on what kind of charges they are with CPS.....if they are abuse, I am surprised she has a job at a nursing home. If they were something else, who knows. I guess it all depends on the person performing the background check and how they view the charges.
