I was driving to town alone thank god when my car gave a hard jerk to the left sending me into oncoming traffic I pulled hard at the steering wheel to go right but it was very hard to turn I was terrified my car was out of control I was not speeding I have no idea what went wrong I hit a car head on. I was ok just some bumps and burses but a pasonger in the other car an elderly man was in critical condition complaining of chest pains when the ambulance got there at first they couldn't find his vitals but then thankfully they did and the driver had a broken hand and foot. I am still shook up about this it was a nightmare Im waiting on the accident report and I don't know if I have to go to court yet although Im sure I will. I have never delt with an accident that was my fault I have car insurance what should I do should I be worried? Because I am worried very worried and what could have happend to make my car do this? I was charged with falure to maintain lane.

I'm told this:

It is a misdemeanor for an unlicensed contractor to work on a project where the value of the ENTIRE PROJECT exceeds $500. This law cannot be "waived" by the customer. (California Business & Professions Code sections 7028 & 7048)

But then another member responded with this:

Technically, you cannot be fined for something that is not a crime. Commando's answer emphasizes CA BPC §§ 7028 & 7048. However, those appear to only apply to acting contractors engaged in contracted work. I am the homeowner and you're my employee. A government attempting to apply its limits within the sovereignty of my own personal property will be a government that quickly finds itself relieved of power.

"7044. This chapter does not apply to any of the following:
(a) An owner of property, building or improving structures thereon, or appurtenances thereto, who does the work himself or herself or through his or her own employees with wages as their sole compensation.

Hi, I bought a used 2007 Siverado on July 20, 5 days after the muffler gave me problems it sounded like diesel truck. The dealer told me to get it welded, i did, it sounded fine, 1 week later same problem, 2 weeks later same problem, got it welded.
The drive shaft is dented causing vibrations this is the problem of why it is breaking

Question is do i have to pay to get it fixed?
What if the dealer don't want to fix it?
Can i return the truck it is on my moms credit

Truck was sold as is, but i heard there is a 30 day grace period.

Thanks!!

Does one pay taxes on injury settlements? (California) and how do settlements pay out? Through a third party? Through time? Or is that part of particular determination in each case- Workplace verbal, physical harrassment and job threats etc---

My husband and I have a life insurance policy stating if either one of us dies our house will be paid off. He also has a seperate insurance policy through his employer stating if he is killed in the line of duty I will recieve benefits for the rest of my life. Could a judge order me to sell my home and split everything with his ex? I had a friend who's father died and at the time he was re-married living in a nice home with his wife. A judge ordered this man's wife to sell the house and split the money with the daughter. Since my husband is a police officer I worry all the time and want 2 b prepaired if he dies. My husband's ex-wife is very greedy and I am worried that if anything ever happens to him she will try to take everything I own. My husband and I have been married for several years and have a child together. He also has two other children with his ex. Do they have the right to sue me and take me to the cleaners if my husband dies. Or does the current wife have the most rights?

I live in a very small town and no one owns a gun. What can I do to protect myself in an emergency? There is no local police and just have a sheriff that is over 15 miles away. I would like protection in an emergency where I would need a weapon. Is there a program that would make it possible. I am the only male in town. We have a population of two and I believe every town, no matter what size needs a way to protect themselves with any emergency.

Prison is meant to be a place where people who have committed crimes can go to pay for the crime(s) they have committed and also be rehabilitated so they can come back again into society.
For persistant offenders, who obviously have no desire for rehabilitation or a life away from crime why don't we give them 3 chances before they are incarserated for the rest of their lives?

I am a concerned parent looking for some answers. My daughter is 17 years old and currently dating a guy that's 24. She tells me that she is old enough to do what she wants and since 16 is the legal age in P.A. there's nothing that I can do. I've heard that 18 is the legal age, and if under 18 you must have parents consent if there is a 4+ year age gap. But I've also heard that it's anyone under the age of 16 and a 4+ year age gap? Does anyone know what the real law is? What should I do? I dont wan to be THAT dad and hurt my daughter cause she's really into this guy.

Real ID Act will standardized state-issued driver's license and non-drivers ID cards. ID cards will be under the control of the federal government and not by the state.
Secretary of Homeland Security will have the control on what information he wants collected and posted on the card.
National ID may contain RFID tag -- can send radio frequency signal. Signal can be used to track your location and identify the card holder automatically.

Pros:
Real ID Act may deter terrorism.
Real ID Act may improve security

Cons:
Real ID Act pose a great threat to your privacy.
It gives the federal government total control and pose a threat of abuse.

My sister attends a private school. They have always worn uniforms, this year it has changed a little. The girls have to wear uniform pants, shorts or skirts all from a paticular uniform store costing 44-54 dollars each. The guys are allowed to wear jeans bought from anywhere.

She is in 10th grade, the school is K-12 and is Christian Private. But, still, isnt this discrimination? Isnt it wrong that the girls have to spend so much more money than the boys? Are Christian Private's allowed to make up their own rules without penalities? Could there be a discrimination case?
