I was ok just some bumps and burses but a pasonger in the other car an elderly man was in critical condition complaining of chest pains when the ambulance got there at first they couldn't find his vitals but then thankfully they did and the driver had a broken hand and foot. I am still shook up about this it was a nightmare Im waiting on the accident report and I don't know if I have to go to court yet although Im sure I will. I have never delt with an accident that was my fault I have car insurance what should I do should I be worried? Because I am worried very worried and what could have happend to make my car do this? I was charged with falure to maintain lane.

It sounds like a tie rod let go. Your insurance company will handle damages. Thankfully, no one was killed. A letter of apology might be nice, but JUST saying you're sorry for the accident. Don't admit fault, just express your regret. A mechanic's statement that the accident was due to mechanical failure might spare you points on your driver's license.

You are 100% at fault. How could the other driver even be remotely responsible for your action? Weird. How? Because as a driver, you are 100% responsible for maintaining control of your vehicle 100% of the time...that's how. How did you get a license without knowing this? As for your chronic addiction, if there is a trace of pot in your system, you will lose your license in most states that have a zero tolerance for minors law. It won't affect the current accident, as how can you be more responsible than 100%. If you were not blood tested at the time of the accident, you'll likely not be tested now or in the future. If there was an injury, you most certainly would have been tested...You got off easy... something to hopefully remember...

If you think the car was mechanically at fault prove it. You could be liable for civil actions. Have the "cause" located and verified, by at least one mechanic, and a WRITTEN report given, to you.
Then like everyone else has said call your insurance. The car insurance, does not cover everything. You must start building a defense NOW. The evidence is the best closest to the accident.

If the accident wasn't drivers error, have solid "Evidence" what it was. Have reports from two mechanics who went over the heap of your car with a fine tooth comb, and found the mechanical cause.

After you have contacted your insurance carrier, try to find the reason the car jerked over into oncoming traffic. Sounds like a broken tie-rod. Mechanical problems outside your control may ease any fine you get. The insurance will take care of the hospital fees.

I would do as the previous poster suggested. I would also like to ask what kind of car it was? It might not have been your fault. There have been cases where some GM models with electronic assisted steering have lost control due to steering failure. I have an 05 Malibu that locked up three times without warning. I found out that this model has had a number of issues with the power assist.

You need to see an attorney AND find out why your car did that. It wouldn't change the fact that you/your car went left of center, and your insurence will have to take care of it.But is might help with your ticket, which will not help your insurance rates. Another problem is that your insurance may not cover all of the expenses if you are underinsured?

Of course your greatly worried because person was harmed in that incident. You report that to the police so that documents well be provided to you in claiming your insurance. If you have a comprehensive insurance. The insurance well be the one to settle the damages to the persons hospitalisation and to your car.

Contact your insurance company immediately. That's why you have insurance. Don't speak with any Representative of the other side without the consent of your insurance company.
