prior to receiving one, each client has signed an agreement specifying interest rate of 18% if not paid within 15 days. Statements also make this clear. Despite, this, the majority of my statements are not paid on time. Because I don't want to be a bank, I charge a high rate of interest. Clients don;t seem to care - they either ignore and pay the orig balance eventually, or sometimes just go ahead and pay with int. But hate having to chase them down and the interest can lead to disputes / hard feelings. Lately, instead of just throwing in stuff for free, I itemize it, list price, then indicate on bill it's free if statement is paid on time; if not, it's going to be on next statement. This is also made clear in plain English on statement - it too fails to motivate timely payment from most clients. Any recommendations? Maybe 15 days is too quick, but I fail to see how a 30 day deadline is going to make anyone pay any quicker!? The credit cards and others don't allow 30 days.

Absolutes opinions?
Fairly simple question: Do you believe in absolutes?

Personally, I don't think any absolutes exist, including an absolute lack of absolutes.

If no, what are the few exceptions? Please tell me why or why not.

When a woman forces herself on a man and the man refuses, he's considered gay and the justice system does nothing about it. But when a man forces himself on a woman, it's considered rape. Why the double standard?

I know it's illegal to share music, but what if you are sharing with family, like, you give for example, a parent owns a CD but allows their child to rip the music to his/her computer? That sounds pretty legal to me, they are family and live together. But if that is legal, how about sharing music with family you don't live with? Like, what if a cousin had legal music that he/she purchased from CDs, and then let you rip on your computer? Would that be illegal, or legal because it is family?
I'd like some good info with hopefully good links if possible. Thanks for all answers and help.

I am a Catholic and understand completely how the people deserve the church's trust, especially when it comes to confession time. But in such instances like the OJ Simpson trial, where Simpson had apparently confessed to a minister about the murder but it couldn't be used as evidence due to the "secrecy" behind it all, I think that it doesn't matter who the hell the suspect tells because all of society would benefit from having these criminals off the street. I would think even a priest would have the logic to tell the police about a confession, because it would simply be the right thing to do..even if it IS against church regulations.
What do you think about this?

I recently posted a question concerning the satellite surveillance program that takes effect October 1st. I was very surprised to see the silly answers that I received. Some people stated that they were not criminals so they didnot need to worry. That's exactly why we lose our constitutional rights. If you do not care for yourself...think of these programs and laws like the raises in electric bills. Once the government gets something they do not ever let it go. The news is that it can see through walls, bricks and that congress is questioning whether it is constitutional and what issues need to be addressed regarding our safety. This technology has the power to zap humans and burn them. Yet, I got answers like people that question this wear tin hats. That only proved that some people do not read anything about new technology. The good news is this: There are people out there fighting for your rights just as MLK fought for those who remained silent many years ago.

I'm asking this because my sister is in this exact situation.
5 years ago she was drugged and date raped by a friend of the family. She did not report it to the police.
1 month later she found out that she was pregnant and decided to keep the baby. Her current boyfriend at the time stood by her decision. They are now married, he signed the birth certificate, the child is 4 years old and thinks my sister's husband is her natural father. They have decided to never tell the child otherwise.
So, I guess my question is...if it was ever found out, could there be legal problems? What do you think about this in an ethical sense? Does a rapist deserve to know that he fathered a child or do you think he forfeited all his rights when he committed the crime?
Thanks!

the ridiculous Pelosi/Reid all nighter
the freely admitted lying in the democratic debates
the Pelosi/AND edwards quotes of we have no choice but to raise taxes
...at face value, there must be some reason theyre still getting votes. I wonder if it might be an altered state of mind?
