Need this for a report on modern slavery(essentially sexual slavery) and while I found lots of material about black market sex slaves, I can't find anything about where it is legal. Is that because most nations are trying to hide this knowledge?

I think you are correct in your assumption as it is very much out of vogue to state slavery is legal in a country. You might concentrate on the hard core Muslim countries such as Yemen, Saudi Arabia, etc and on African countries as these are the most likely to not have laws disallowing slavery.

The one article states slavery has never been criminalized in Mauritania but it did so in Aug 2007 (that's right, this month). Nigeria may be one country where it is still legal but it will take more then my quick search to determine this. Anyway, about 8% of their population is enslaved.

One other area I faild to mention because laws generally are only enforced in the cities is southeast Asia: Cambodia, Vietnam, etc. Good luck on your search.

I am not aware of a single country that explicitly has a law allowing slavery. This would be a violation of United Nations rules and several international treaties.

Of course, there are several countries where modern day slavery may be widespread, de facto but not de jure. This means that the slaves technically have the right to leave, but due to financial circumstances they are unable to do so.

It is illegal but many countries allow it and even are envolved in the trade. The government has a list of countries that allow sex trade.
