my father was murdered a few months ago and his name was the only name on the title of the house and his bank account. my mother wants to be put on the title of the house so nothing happens to the house. she is really stressed out about this. is there a way to go about doing this. isn't considered community propertery. who do we talk too? can we get a public defendant or does it have to be a private lawyer??? and do we have to go to probate??

For civil legal matters, public defenders don't apply.
Public defenders only deal with criminal defense issues.

Community property laws would apply if your father and mother were married -- there's also the issue of what form the title was in -- which may resolve the question independent of that. And absent a joint title or community property, the estate would go through probate to be resolved.

Oftentimes one consultation is free at the law office. You might want to check into the Pre Paid legal plan. They operate from Ada Oklahoma and provide unlimited consultation and it is oftentimes covered by the low monthly fee. However, if you need to see a lawyer in person, they get you a lawyer in your local area and they give 25% discount.

No matter what, get a lawyer.
