A warrant has been issued for someone's arrest for a class B or C felony (B felony most likely). Isn't it possible to plead the charge down to a misdemeanor?

No evidence, no trial, no charges.

I know that approximately 30% of the people on Y/A will agree with this policy, but I also know that approximately 30% of the world is filled with pure evil.

There was a time when there was a difference between a suspect and a convict.

In the "war on terror" we are ALL suspects.

the federal public defender did a reply May 5, 2007. How long do Judges usually take to make their ruling? Are there any statistics on how long Judges take on cases that are not death penalty or life sentences? Any averages? Please don't tell me they have no time tables and there is no way to predict.

Why are those who are going to be executed allowed a last meal of their choice?

If the public thinks a convict deserves both death and the horrible mental suffering of sitting in death row for years knowing he will be killed, how come the public wants to alleviate that convict's suffering ever so slightly by giving him a potentially fantastic last meal of his choice? Isn't that pretty inconsistent?

Either the convict is a worthless human being, or he is not. If the convict is a worthless human being, he should have nothing, not life, and not even a last meal. If he is not a worthless human being, on the other hand, why is he executed?

If being dead is worth 0, and a average life in freedom is worth 10^100 or has infitie value, suppose having a last meal is worth 0.005 on that scale (just a random guess). Then why assume that all those convicts deserve exactly 0.005 worth of pleasure, no more, no less? Isn't that unlikely, expecially considering time in death row varies a lot?

Last night my stepson his son and his biological father were injured in a car accident. A wrecker carrying a car on a flatbed had not secured the vehical correctly. Just as my stepson saw that it was about to come loose , it did!
The car came off the truck and slammed into the passenger side of my stepson's pickup. This sent him into the guardrail. The truck is a total loss. He and his dad were shanken up and are pretty sore but my grandson hit his head, yes he had a seatbelt on, and had to have 12 stitches and stay in the hospital until 2am this morning.
My daughter works part time for a lawyer, who came down to the hospital last night. He said he will handle it. Im sure he will, for a fee.
What is fair? IF the wrecker company broke more than one law is there more than one lawsuit?
I can think of a few. Failure to secure his load. Wreckless endangerment. Bodily injury. Mental anxiety [my wife]. etc

yesterday i went to a job interview and everything went great. I wasnt nervous but the only thing i was worried about was my past job, in the application i didnt write down any job at all because in my past job i got fired, it really wasnt a big deal. But lately i have been applying to jobs but i havent received any calls back, only yesterday's interview. My past job has been giving me bad luck so that's why i didnt put it down in the application. Also yesterday the lady from the interview told me that on monday i have to take a drug test, this is a requirement. I talked to my dad & he said that if they want me to take a drug test then i deff got hired because they wouldnt even waste time & $$. I also had to sign a paper about background check. My question is..Do jobs really check your job history? Or do they mainly focus on criminal record? i need advise, opinions & info plz. Thanx

For example, I want to make a tshirt that says "Grab Hunters by the horns."

Hunters are characters from a videogame.

The slogan is "Grab life by the horns" by Dodge. Thats legal right?

I noticed people reference characters and things from videogames, movies, etc on shirts.. that cant be legal right? For example, "My teddy is an Ewok?"
An Ewok are those bear things from Star Wars..

Thanks for any help.

the article speaks of the children being starved to almost death..but, did the 'parents' starve themselves to almost death as well? i mean, if you can't feed the kid cause you can't move away from the wide screen tv...i'm just positive that you can't feed yourself either for the same reasons...right?

people like this should automatically get their reproductive organs removed once they have committed such crimes...this will rule out procreation and the chance of another child suffering unnecessarily...

this is just another example of how those who have the power to change society, chose to do so without consideration to those who will suffer the consequences...mental illness...once again, becomes a joke...by this time next year, yes! playing videos and good old fashion bad parenting are now a part of the DSM-IV family..welcome to mental illness

what is your opinion?

I was asked to find 5 different people to identify what crime was committed in each of the following situations. I thought a good way would be to ask the question in this form. Thanks in advance for all constructive input.

1) While passing Juan's house one night, Sarah sees a portable tv set left unattended on Juan's lawn. Sarah takes the tv set, carries it home and tells everyone she owns it.

2) While passing Juan's house one night, Sarah sees Juan outside with a portable tv set. Holding Juan at gunpoint, Sarah forces him to give up the tv set and then runs away with it.

3) While passing Juan's house one night, Sarah sees a portable tv set in a window. Sarah breaks the front-door lock, enters, and leaves with the set.

While P2P file sharing technology is completely legal, many of the files traded through P2P are copyrighted. Unless you live in Canada where citizens are shielded from P2P copyright lawsuits, downloading music, movie, and TV files will put you at risk for a civil lawsuit in any other country. These lawsuits usually take the form of class-action suits, filed against groups of users who are logged as blatantly copying and distributing copyrighted materials. Recently, the MPAA and RIAA, along with the governments of England and Australia, took several thousand users to court, demanding that they pay thousands of dollars in copyright infringement penalties. Please keep this lawsuit risk in mind when you install and use any BitTorrent software in the USA, Europe, or Asia.

I am a US citizen, and my English is fluent, but it is not my native tongue an when I am tired, my foreign accent comes out. It is actually quite slight, but still audible.
Often, when I would apply for jobs over the phone, I would notice the interviewer would become tense and ask me the " Where are you from originally?" question. When I would answer, there would be a mood of grave concern on the other end and they would never call me back. Mostly business jobs and all.
I also got called a "foreigner" on one job and told to "get out".
Once I was applying for a job as a teacher and the school asked me to fill out an application form. They had a "Place of Birth" box" which is illegal". I brought it to their attention and they said that the parents in the school were mainly Chinese and they would ask "where the teacher is from" before allowing that person teach their kids. What are legal recourses for foreign-born US citizens to combat such discrimination?
