yesterday i went to a job interview and everything went great. I wasnt nervous but the only thing i was worried about was my past job, in the application i didnt write down any job at all because in my past job i got fired, it really wasnt a big deal. But lately i have been applying to jobs but i havent received any calls back, only yesterday's interview. My past job has been giving me bad luck so that's why i didnt put it down in the application. Also yesterday the lady from the interview told me that on monday i have to take a drug test, this is a requirement. I talked to my dad & he said that if they want me to take a drug test then i deff got hired because they wouldnt even waste time & $$. I also had to sign a paper about background check. My question is..Do jobs really check your job history? Or do they mainly focus on criminal record? i need advise, opinions & info plz. Thanx

A background check is only for criminal offenses. If your ever been arrested and for what.

And yes you are definitely hired if they have you filling out those papers and ding a drug test

for the line of work you have applied for a crimimal records check will almost be a certainty-in the case of the previous job. if it asked on the job application form about previous employment and the reason/s why you left it and you deliberately left this blank-they can fire you!!. if it is mandatory for employees to take drug/alcohol tests then you cannot argue with the company regulations. not all companies check previous history (it depends on how short of manpower they are) if they are drastically short they may turn a blind eye but if you are called into the office at short notice-brace yourself..............yes i am afraid you could get fired mimi-when applying for a post you have to answer all questions as truthfully as possible-any deliberate intention to deceive is fraud-which they can fire you for. but it appears (by virtue of the drug test) you have got away with it-so say nothing unless the subject is brought up.

You didn't say what type of position you applied for, so this is hard to answer. I can tell you that in my work world, we depend on references and verification of education and previous work experience. If you're scheduled to take a drug test on Monday, it's likely you got the job. Be sure to send the woman who interviewed you a thank you note (even if it's just by email). It's the proper thing to do. And do your best with this job so you'll re-establish your resume for future job opportunities. Good luck!
