WASHINGTON -- Lawyers for the government's disaster relief agency discouraged officials from pursuing reports that trailers housing hurricane victims had dangerous levels of formaldehyde, according to documents released Thursday.
The House committee unearthed documents in which one FEMA lawyer advised: "Do not initiate any testing until we give the OK. ... Once you get results ... the clock is running on our duty to respond to them."
Paulison said FEMA's lawyers were trying to protect the agency from lawsuits, but he now realizes FEMA should have been more aggressive in dealing with the concerns about formaldehyde. "We simply did not have a grasp of the situation at the time," he said.

I have a judgment against husband and wife
they are broke but he works and they have a new car
i believe car is registered in wifes maiden name - and i believe they own it clean as a gift from her parents
Im in california
If I go to dmv and fill out request for vehicle information i must state a reason and dmv sends a copy to the registered owner
now they are on notice that i'm going after the car
If they then give the car back to her parents does that make it judgment proof as regards her debts?

question 2
how do i seize something that is regestered in her maiden name? do I need to go back to court and amend the judgment or something like that to establish a claim on it?

Ideally parents should teach their kids about sex but the sad truth is that many parents don't do their job. If these kids have high risk sex they can get pregnant with kids that the rest of us will have to pay for through our taxes in social services and later crime associated to poverty, incompetent parenting, and abscentee fathers. They could get a disease that requires medical attention that we again have to pay for as tax payers. Therefore does it not behoove us to offer comprehensive sex education in schools, including in addition to abstinence, birth control methods, and ways to prevent the contraction of veneral diseases?

We are having major HOA problems in our community, we basicly feel like they are trying to keep kids out of sight, locked in the house all the time, and in this day and age many of us are getting very upset about this we believe strongly in the kids getting excerise. It's new construction area and they are just took over, they want to take down the community playground, or make all homeowners get rid of any playground stuff in yards.
But the newest thing is trying to get rid of all kids pools, so the question legally what is condiered a kids pool and what is an above ground STRUCTURE (the by laws state the word structure with is the key here with legal terms) Depth, size, type any help here would be great, otherwise we feel like we have to become like the people that don't want to see kids and complain about every little thing they do because that is how they are treating all of us with kids which is why we are getting picked on, because they complain, we're not.
Thanks!

Why is it that the A.C.L.U. aggressively prosecutes Christian and Jewish religious activities in schools and other public institutions while turning a blind eye to children being forceably subjected to Islam and its terrorist theology?

The A.C.L.U. has reportedly refused to take ANY cases against the Islamization of schools while exerting full force against any Christian or Jewish organization.

This has REPEATEDLY occured in California, Oregon, etc.

They have just stated that they now intend to force the University of Colorado at Boulder to re-instate Ward Churchill ( remember his description of the WTC victims as "3000 little Eichmanns" ?) while aggressively trying to muzzle the free speech of Christians and Jews in outright defiance of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Why do you think they prosecute Christians and Jews but support Islam and inflammatory left-wing bigots?

people that firmly stand up for guns are saying THE EXACT THING that others are saying with the NUKES.

ITS NOT THE GUNS or NUKES, that are a problem. IT IS THE PEOPLE-(TERRORISTS) or CONTRIES THAT "USE" THEM. (pakistan & osama bin laden)

lets get serious, it's just wrong. You can't expect others to change if we don't.

Yep, guns and nukes are the same in this sense because the reasons are the same. Its NOT the tools but the people that use them......and thats just plain STUPID.

Remove them both from society!

THAT train of thought of "its not the tools" is what needs to change.
and taking the money from the arms dealers, and stop buying the PROPAGANDA, & nra magazines, and stop taking their money to get votes, thus stop the need for lobbyists money.

But is it the right thing to sell all those evil to public in the name of commercialization/ making profit?

All governments in the World swears to protect its public while crowning but supports/ never de-promote those people who sell the evil for man kind

I feel that there should be one single law/system in the world ( at least to protect the next generations from diseases like cancer, liver diseases, etc) to control the production, manufacturing and selling the consumables to the man kind.

are there any such powerful global organizations in the world to protect the future of the mankind. If you know explain me clearly

She thinks that we don't make enough to support a baby. I think that a child is the most wonderful thing in the world and don't think a baby should be killed because we might not make enough money. Who's right, me or the baby killer. She said that if 90 % of yahoo answerers say keep the baby then she will. Please everyone help save my baby. Pro Choice or Pro Life?

I am a videographer. Recently a customer asked me to include a couple of songs of Frank Sinatra in her wedding DVD. Is it ok to include those songs even if they are copyrighted? Someone told me that since it is not for distribution but for two or three families (the ones that belong to the fiance and fiancee) there is nothing wrong with taking ANY song from the market to include in my wedding DVDs. I am not really sure about it. Any observations?

im 16 and i recently elbowed (not exaclty a punch) a 17yr old in the face...reasons being 1. Sexual Harrassment towards girls much younger than him (next year he will be a sexual offender...he tells freshman hes a freshman..hes a senior), 2. Owed me a large sum of money and refused to pay it back. 3. is constantly high on drugs and unreliable. (and generally possesses marijuana at all times), 4. he tried to get my attention though nonviolent physical means even though i repeatedly told him to get his hands off of me. could he press charges? does what i have on him outweigh what he has on me? P.S this is in New York City

He has 2 felonies. One was from when he was 17 and stupid. He was with the wrong crowd and they broke in to a museum to steal a collector gun. He was driving the car and didn't know what they were doing, but of course once he found out, he sped off with them in the car instead of just getting out. But, again, he was only 17 and he's 43 now.

The other felony is assault and battery. His ex-wife had temporary custody of their son (he has had the son for over 6 years now) and one of her disturbed boyfriend's was coming to her apartment to harrass her repeatedly. So my fiance' confronted the guy and told him to stay away from them. That led to an argument and then, of course, a fist fight.

For years, he has been turned down left and right for good jobs because of this crap. He's a good man, he does nothing wrong, has no other crimes, not even car accidents! But as soon as the felonies come up (he's always honest on his applications), the interview goes sour. I feel bad for him..

I need to know, in California, whats the deal with merchants asking for I.D.? I recently got married and changed my last name but my new credit cards have not yet come in. A cashier at a large retailer denied my purchase because my last name on my credit card did not match my drivers license even though I showed her my work PHOTO I.D. which also has my old last name (i also showed her ALL of my other cards that have my old last name). Later on, I paid by debit card (which she accepted because of the entire pin number ordeal), and the debit card had my old last name as did the credit card.

So is it legal?

So I was offered a great job. I have been going through the background check process. They asked for 10 years of employment history after the offer was extended to me. I provided a list of all of my former jobs since 1997. They were concerned that there were so many jobs, so they wanted to have some professional references. The specificially asked for 2 from the current state that I live and 2 from the previous state that I lived in. I provided 6 references all together, just in case they could not reach someone. I was mainly concerned with one reference that I put down from 6 years ago. (since they asked for 2 from my former state, I had to provide this person) They called her and she said she could not remember me but she thought it was a good reference. She asked the HR people to send her an email and she would get back to them. Well, she hasnt. The HR department called me and asked that I call her to refresh her memory. I have left her 2 messages and sent 2 emails.
