It's a medical procedure, not surgery. It's quite commonplace.
I've known quite a few people who've died by NOT HAVING IT DONE.

This procedure has a low (0.2%) risk of serious complications.

The most serious complication is a tear or hole in the lining of the colon called a gastrointestinal perforation, which is life-threatening and requires immediate major surgery for repair; however, the rate of perforation is less than 1 in 2000 colonoscopies.

Bleeding complications may be treated immediately during the procedure by cauterization via the instrument. Delayed bleeding may also occur at the site of polyp removal up to a week after the procedure and a repeat procedure can then be performed to treat the bleeding site. Even more rarely, splenic rupture can occur after colonoscopy because of adhesions between the colon and the spleen.

As with any procedure involving anaesthesia, other complications would include cardiopulmonary complications such as temporary drop in blood pressure and oxygen saturation, usually the result of overmedication and easily reversed. In rare cases, more serious cardiopulmonary events such as a heart attack, stroke, or even death may occur; these are extremely rare except in critically ill patients with multiple risk factors.

Colonoscopy - They will anesthetize you, knock you out, then stick a hose outfitted with a micro camera up your rectum, They are looking for abnormalites, cancer, polyps, after that you will be in the recovery room , waking up! The best part is the symphony of the patients in recovery passing gas, because with this procedure, your intestines will have been filled with air and has to leave your system!, then you go home the rest of the day a bit groggy and tired.
The doctors will provide you color pictures of your "innards" too! - pretty neat, huh?

A colonoscopy procedure is not surgery...it is a routine test that is done on thousands of folks everyday...mine is scheduled for next month....our great president will be just fine...much to the chagrin of the defeatocrats.

He is having an exam, not surgery, and the risk of complications is exceedingly small. He may die, but it is highly unlikely. We are better off if he wakes up, as Cheney could cause much more trouble without W.

They put a small camera, lights, a stage coach, six cowboys. fifteen native Americans, twenty two bank robbers and a dog up your butt. OK everything after "light" was a lie. They look for cancer in your colon (lower intestine). Some times they put you to sleep as in Bush's case. Sometimes they just give you a drug that relaxes you.

I don't want Bush to die, but Cheney is and always has been the president. This just makes it official for a couple of hours.

If he had to temporarily pass his power to Cheney, it seems serious. However, he is not going to die so soon even if he has colon cancer.

However, it is going to be painful. I did design a colonoscope; an instrument that the doctor shaft up his rear end. Let me tell you in plain English, it is going to hurt.

NO...it's a colonoscopy. Nothing unusual. It's something most men get done and it's recommended to be done when your older. I'm not at that point where I have to consider it thankfully. The idea of the process is frightening.
